Watching the Auburn game in those critical short yardage plays I kept thinking, we don't have that run stuffing line we need, thats so very critical to get the ball back for your offense. all year the defense played well overall but we allowed way too many yards on first down forcing too few third and longs, obviously Saban saw it too which is a good reason to sign Terrence Cody for immedate help. I'm thinking:

Move Washington to DT
Deaderick took control of the other DT spot
Cody at 6' 5" 395 should anchor the nose guard,
If Zo and Brandon could both put on about 15lbs of muscle that would give you three guys near or over 300 to anchor that line and force doubleteams.

then with a year of S&C for McCullough, Chapman, and Davis, you have three guys who can come off the bench, Plus Greenwood and Motley who both have experience and could help out with pass rush if we get in a shooting match.

That leaves Tarlbert, Gentry & Elder along with the other true freshman. I'm not sure who of these would step up but you never know.

Boy the old school defense is coming back to Alabama!!!

Check the recruiting board. We have a new JUCO commit that will be our run-stopper in the middle for next year. Our defense will be lights out next year.

We'll have some talent on the DL, but with the exception of a few, it will be young and/or inexperienced talent. LB is a spot that is more of a concern, but with the loss of Gilberry, we need a new pass rusher.

We will have a young DL next year, and our hard games are on the road. This could be a recipe for a bad year, but it will be a good one for our young to get experience. Look for us to be really good in 2009.

Question about Cody, is he an "in shape" 395 or, Anthony Bryant Jr, who is sucking wind after 2 plays? I am not impressed with his 5.6 40. Almost every lineman will be quicker than Cody.

Based on his list of offers I would assume he's in shape. As far as his 40 time, i don't' think speed will be much of an issue since he will be used to clog up the middle of the OL.

I was wondering if motley might go back to help the o-line and which side do you think he's better at.
he's our best noseman.........his ankle should be healthy next yr and i think the sky will be the limit. when he was in this yr he was a difference maker. i recall the int. he forced flynn into when he had to throw out of the ez. he reminds me of robert stewart!
