"We are Americans sharing a belief in something greater than ourselves, a nation coming together to meet challenges and find solutions; to share sacrifices and share prosperity; and focus, once again, not only on the individual good but on the common good." -- Kansas Gov. Translating the bold portion: Share your prosperity with those that don't value the concept of sacrifice.

Pathetic.

Supporters of corporate welfare programs often justify them as remedying some sort of market failure. Often the market failures on which the programs are predicated are either overblown or don't exist. Yet the federal government continues to subsidize some of the biggest companies in America. Boeing, Xerox, IBM, Motorola, Dow Chemical, General Electric, and others have received millions in taxpayer-funded benefits through programs like the Advanced Technology Program and the Export-Import Bank. In addition, the federal crop subsidy programs continue to fund the wealthiest farmers.

Get out yer tin-foil hats, boys.

The sky is going to fall! ;)

Absolutely. Government should neither help nor hinder business. Agricultural subsidies, favorable tax treatment, etc. are distortive of the market and cause more problems than they pretend to solve.

And I agree with the article. The concept of "market failure" is either overblown or erroneously identified.

after an 80% increase in electricity and gas, another huge increase in oil prices, the largest tax increase in state history, additional taxes on all service industries, and another tax increase proposed for next yr.... I THINK I NEED MY OWN SUBSIDY FROM THE GOV.!!! This would best be accomplished by repealing all the tax increases they just put into place.

What I found interesting in this poorly constructed propaganda was the use of the language. She refered to " we in the majority ".. People with a brain know she meant the partisan democrats ( you know, the ones that she implied that she wasnt going to refer too). After watching the piece on FOX after the speech where half of the dummies in a survey group who thought that the tax cuts should go away ( because they only help the so called rich) changed their minds when they were informed that removing the cuts would mean an average tax increase of 1800 bucks for them, I wonder how many of those kind of folks misunderstood the word majority. I am certain that the word was used to suck in the ignorant.
