Question: Did Bear Bryant wear houndstooth?

Ok, someone mentioned to my mom that Coach Bryant didn't even wear houndstooth. so while watching the game last night she was researching it. She asked me about it, I had never heard any different.

but while doing some research i see that many people have brought this up.

So i thought i'd just come here and find the truth...

Did he wear houndstooth? or just black and white plaid?

The extent of my knowledge is, I'm 48 yrs old and have heard what Coach Bryant wore referred to as 'houndstooth' since I was a child. My mom was into sewing and clothing and fabric etc and she always called it houndstooth.

Sounds to me like maybe more attempts by Auburn fans to trash Coach Bryant?

On page 1 (18 pics) 15 pics, paintings or tatoos of him in a houndstooh hat, only 2 pics of him without, one must have been posted by an Auburn or a Tennessee fan.

Coach wore the black and white and some variations as I remember.

He wore several hats, some were plain plaid, some were houndstooth. So the question of, Did CPBB wera houndstooth?" is answered yes. This could actually get doen to the technical definition of houndstooth versus plaid.

I heard the story of the houndstooth hat on tv Saturday. The story is the original houndstooth hat was a gift from the NY Jets for advising Joe Namath to sign with them. I can't remember exacatly who the hat was from.

Most depictions I have seen look to be houndstooth, but I've also seen hats that appear to be plaids, checks, & herringbones (subdued pattern).
