:BigA: I watched Andre Smith play this season and what an excellent offensive lineman. I think by next year or for sure his junior year barring any injury the pro scouts will be licking their chops to make big Andre a first round draft pick. All the recruiting hype on Andre was true he is definitely the real deal. My thanks and apprieciation go out to this young man and a very good job. Well Done Andre.

Yep, middle of next season, just before the NFL trade deadline though!
(LOL)

Seriously though, I hope for a couple of more guys like him to enroll
at and play for the U of A!

The earliest he could possibly leave would be after the '08 season so it's not even worth mentioning at this point IMO.

yes, he will be a top 5 pick after his junior year. #1 depending on who has the first pick, and the qbs available.

he is an orlando pace type player, and there aren't many of those around.

Absolutely he leaves early, whether Alabama goes 0-12 or goes 14-0 and a national championship. I read from several scouts that Smith has the raw talent to play right now in the NFL. He has a very rare combination of sheer size and great speed for that huge body of his that makes him one scary offensive lineman.

If we're talking about after his junior year, then yes, it's a good possibility. He's got all the talent in the world, and you're always one injury away...

Unless the rule changed since then, Michael Vick was gone after his Sophomore year at Va Tech. He played in 1999 as a Freshman and 2000 as a Soph. 2001 he was a Falcon.

He redshirted in 1998. It's not your year classification, but 3 years in school.

Speaking of Mike Vick, did you guys know that he wanted to go to North Carolina, but the Tar Heels thought it better to go after a guy named Ronald Currey? Oops! :biggrin2:

Andre has all the talent and potential in the world,
but
he hasn't received one minutes positive coaching since he left high school,
and
he still hasn't gotten himself in shape.

Yes he will be able to go early if he wants, just on raw talent and potential,
but
two more years of Mr. Connelly(negative coaching)
and
two more years of fat,
he won't be in that early first round group.

I hope he gets some college level coaching, gets in shape, and loves Bama enough to play his senior year for the Tide.

the longer Bob Connelly coaches him, the lower his draft stock drops. Same goes for the rest of the studs that we have red-shirted. They'd do well to transfer if CBC is retained; otherwise, he'll take all the potential they have and coach it right out of them.
