Bama has to play only one game at a time. If we get caught thinking we can just show up and claim a victory we are going to be in for a rude awakening. We still have a long schedule to play and every one of those teams left on our schedule would just love to be the first to defeat us this year. We will be extremely fortunately to be able to play in the seccg, much less go undefeated and win a NC.

I love the warnings fo not looking past a team on message boards. Seriously the fans may be anxiously awaiting the Tennessee, LSU, and Auburn games. And some may just write off Ole Miss, Utah State, and Miss State as wins.

I dont think you really have to worry about the coaching staff and players making that mistake. The people that really matter have jobs to do and they take it one day/ game at a time.

From the Desk of Mike Shula (MikeShula.com)
Saturday was great and we want to continue the enthusiasm surrounding this program. At the beginning of the season, we set goals to become bowl eligible, protect our home field, play for the SEC championship and finally win a National Championship. These goals are worthy of the Alabama football program and we intend to pursue them every year as a team. Big wins along the way are great stepping stones for success, but we must put the past behind us and move on.

RollTide.com (on first workout after UF game)
In the meetings we’re working on a little bit of everything; our own stuff, looking back at the first five games in certain areas offensively and defensively and then we’re also looking at Ole Miss.”

RollTide.com (after final workout in bye week)
“It was a good three days,” Alabama head coach Mike Shula said. “We got some stuff done on Ole Miss. We got to work some of the younger guys. We did a lot of running, a lot of lifting, and now they can get some rest.

“We are trying to catch our breath right now and get ourselves ready. When we come back on Sunday, we need to be really focused and get our energy going towards Ole Miss.”

Relax the players and the coaches are not overlooking Ole Miss.

Roll Tide!

I always find it funny how people on the boards act like they are on the football team - we must not look past Ole Miss, we must take it one game at a time. Yes, the team must do these things, but if a co-worker and I want to talk about the Rose Bowl, it will not affect the team one bit.

I am looking forward to this weeks game because I love to watch Bama football (hate bye weeks), but that doesn't mean I'm not talking about Tenn, LSU, and the Barn. As a fan, I don't have to take it one week at a time.

I'm glad someone posted this, as the anxiety was beginning to be annoying. ;)

Prothro Injury

I truly think that the injury to Prothro will help the team to know that they are going to have to play ball to take up the slack, therefore in a weird sort of way, it may help the team as a whole to realize that they need to pick it up more so than ever to replace our number one play maker. If Coach Shula is as cautious as I think he is he will be very diligent to remind our players that Ole Miss can beat us if we don't coming our clicking.

Thank you RollTideinGA!
I'm glad someone said something about this. I felt like I had to secretly talk about the TN game.
I don't think the team is looking past Ole Miss and I can't wait to see the game this weekend but I have looked at all the other opponents, too.
We have an excellent chance of taking it all the way. But we also have a good chance of taking a loss down the road too.

I hope the team stays focused and plays with NC intensity.
But in the mean time, I am salivating for that tale kicking the Tide will do when the Vols come strollin' into town.

after seeing the Arkansas game, followed by the Florida game.....you almost want the OM game to be a little close.

Then again, this team just seems focused, that I don't think the week before really has any effect on the way they prepare for the next game.

I actually agree with you on that. The situation has the possibility of drawing the team closer, (kinda like circling the wagons) and making it even stronger. Hope this is true!

Sorry,

I have a very hard time NOT looking past Ole Miss. I think their coaching change is an absolute disaster, and that we ought to have gone through the depth chart before the 3rd quarter is over.

They are pitiful.

While it can be hard to take these opponents seriously, AL seems to have a history of playing up to competition and down to competition. The problem with playing down is that a bad bounce or two and the game could be close. Once the game gets out of hand Shula can rotate in extra players or get some game time practice for future games.

They are the weakest team that we have played at this point in the season, IMO. Of course, that doesn't mean that they cannot win - but they need our help to win...

hope im wrong

but i think this could be a close one. This is the type of week where you find out just how good our coaches are. Shula has to get them ready. Very important week as i see it. 11 am kick is not in our favor.

If you don't mind me asking...

Why is the kickoff time in anyones favor? Not being a s/a, just have no idea why
that has any advantage for either team.

Thanks,

SB

11 am kick is not in our favor.
......and a 11 am kickoff somehow favors OM? Not following you here.
I agree with NYBamaFan......they aren't going to win without our help, & I just cant see this bunch of seniors letting UM ruin their season

i look at this game as the perfect opportunity to refine the offensive line run blocking schemes, get some practice i hope for coffee, plug in second team players opportunities, and hopefully, fine someone to take tyrones place as a special teams player, and threat on offense.
