Since Smith hasn't picked yet could any of the 4 start in 06? By looking at their size I'd say Motley, if he doesn't move to DT, and Pharr might need to beef up some but Stadler and Ross appear to have the size and weight to play now.

Beside's Smith do we have any other O-linemen offered? What about the kid from Chattonga? I think he is a UT commit but he was starting to look around some. Any chance we can steal him?

Apparently the guy that trains some of the OL posted this about Pharr..

Taylor- has been in training program for 3 weeks in a warmup mode doing my 21 Rep Routine (30 min) combined with AB work. His running is being done in basketball. Still he has gained 5 lbs in weight 6-6 1/2 and now 273 with a goal of 300 by reporting time. He is now starting the Cycleyer routine which is Strength & Power pyramiding to high resistance numbers over 6 weeks. Frankly he was kind of weak to start as his HS program was like so many- lacking in this area. His max numbers were low, but it does not take years to make huge gains in Strength unlike some seem to think.

Our Goal is to add 125lbs each to his Core Lifts by July 1st putting him in mid 400's on BP and mid 600's on Squat and mid 300's on HC.
Because of his attitude and discipline I am confident in him reaching hsi goals. Do not count him out in favor of the more highly rated kids Bama is getting at OL.

Tonight saw David Ross who stopped and shook my hand and said he wanted me to train him up too. Saw him at a game earlier in year and he knows Taylor is in training with me. So this could be a excellent pair to Train up. I love to train athletes but especially big Linemen. They take to my routine the best seemingly. Last years duo of Marlon, Byron, and Scott Deaton were really inspiring to me. David Ross is like Marlon in that he has a head start, being already well into development and training in the past. Will make a good partner for Taylor: should push each other well.

you never want freshman lineman having to play in the SEC but next year's OL is completely up in the air. If these kids can come in ready, they could push for at least a back up job. See Marlon Davis this year.

Jacques McClendon- he remains committed but is looking at us and the Barn. Tough to tell.

I'd love to have him, but how can we compete with USC right now? If this guy likes his visit to the west coast, he is gone... :frown:

I was looking at USC, per ESPN, and they only have 2 O-linemen on the whole roster who are Seniors, Ross Burruel a center and Taitusi Lutui a tackle. I dont if these guys start or not but it's going to be a lot harder for Smith to get early playing time at USC than it will be here. If he's as good as everyone says he shouldn't have any trouble starting here and we are closer to home.

The criteria he talked about in his article makes me think we've at least got a shot (interested in Sports Law - we've got a good Law School). I think we at least would have to be in his top 3, and if he doesn't want to go so far from home, we might just trump SC.

Of course, this could be just wishful thinking.
