Duluth is a very nice city and there's a lot to do around there. Selma likes it so much, he goes back every year and could tell you a lot more. I mostly have just passed through, staying overnight a few times. For years, Huntsville shared an orchestra director with Duluth...I have interview with an architectural firm this week. Just an interview and they are interviewing others. I do know a couple of people that already work there so I do have an in. Hopefully something will come from this.
Edit: Interview is this Friday in Duluth. I don't know if any of you own a map but that is quite the hike from Vinings. So far it is the only place that has called so I will learn to live with it if I am hired.
We shall see. so far this is just an interview. They are interviewing a few candidates so they could easily pick someone else.Duluth is a very nice city and there's a lot to do around there. For over two years I drove from Loretto, TN to south Jackson, TN five days a week. It was four and a half hours a day of commute. The money was excellent, but I didn't think the business would survive so I never moved to Jackson.Interview went well. They liked me. I know some of the same people they know and they asked about me ahead of time. They said everyone spoke highly of me and no one had a negative thing to say about me. They assured me they are not the hire and fire type firm. When they hire it is because they want that person to stay. They have decent benefits (401k, they only pay 2/3 of medical, quarterly bonuses). They have a lot of potential work coming up, so it looks promising. They are interviewing other people but I think I may have impressed with my Revit knowledge. (just google if you don't know).
The drive wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. It is 25 miles away but the opposite direction of traffic.
Yeah, I am not waiting on them. I don't think the old firm is going to survive this. I said as much in my interview because they asked if I wanted to return to the old firm. For over two years I drove from Loretto, TN to south Jackson, TN five days a week. You get used to a commute. It gives you time to think and wind down. You can listen to news, music, books, sports radio, etc. I suspect you will learn to like the commute.
Best of luck on the job. If it is a good opportunity, I'd take it rather than wait for your old firm. A bird in the hand.....
I'll repeat that Duluth is a very nice town. I think I could get used to living there. You are in reach of a lot of winter athletic activities...Yeah, I am not waiting on them. Great news. When will it begin to trickle down on me?wE CaN’t aFfOrD tO HeLp pEoPlE
Billionaires made $3.9 trillion during the pandemic — enough to pay for everyone's vaccine

nothing they do is reasonable. i hope biden tells them where to stick it. they had their chances to deal with covid and they refused to do their jobs because they thought they could steal the election and keep chugging along the path they were on.I wonder if the republican proposal will be reasonable or just political gamesmanship?
We are not going to have another shutdown.I truly fear for small businesses in the coming months. Another shut down seems inevitable at this point and the ones who somehow made it through the first one won't survive a second one
