So what does everyone think of the ESPN Mock BCS Standings. With only one computer poll still missing, this is what they believe would be the BCS if it came out today.

Right now, Sagarin's Elo_Chess ranking for Bama is 17th. I am not sure how we will fare in the other computer polls, but the loss to a team with a loss really hurt us in Sagarin's computer model.

The computer polls tend to get better and better as the season unfolds. Boise State will be hurt as their upcoming opponents' cruddy records drag down their numbers.

The only rankings that actually matter are the final BCS rankings that are released after the conference championship games are over.

I get the real feeling that ESPN wants Boise and TCU to screw the BCS, and that maybe their agenda is to get a playoff into college football or something.

DON'T FLAME ME ANYONE UNTIL YOU READ MY POST!!!

If Alabama can't get to the BCSCG... assuming we win out and win the SECCG... I'm pulling for Boise and Oregon to win out. And for Oregon to throttle them. I'd like to see Oregon hang a full hundred on 'em.

I'm a traditionalist...I've never been a proponent of a playoff in Div 1 football, but Boise with an opportunity to play for all the marbles after their atrocious schedule is horrendous. I'm not even an SEC snob... but there HAS to be some strength of schedule put back into the polls.

I'm sure that the television networks don't want a Boise st TCU title game because it will have some of the lowest ratings they have seen in years.

You'd think ESPN would follow that logic, but they like the cute cinderella teams. As another poster mentioned, the initial BCS rankings don't matter, just the ones in December, so BSU's schedule will make them fall down a few notches while other teams SOS rises as conference play keeps going.

Actually, if we win out, we'll more than likely see Boise in New Orleans. And we'd have to do the throttling

I enjoyed seeing us ahead of LSU in the polls, and we have one loss. Guess the pollers dont see their wins as very decisive either
LSU's wins have been unimpressive - until the Florida game. It's a "woulda, coulda, shoulda" type of thing, but Florida got 21 of their 29 points off of a kick-off return and a couple of ~15 yard drives (due to a couple of turnovers). LSU dominated the game, except for the scoreboard. :)

i would wager BSU, actually, I don't think there is any one good enough right now, that would make the ARK/UF/USCe run unscathed in weeks 4-6 with the third team in that group having the bye and a home game. So in essence ESPN is giving the diver who jumps off the 3 meter board and does a vanilla dive the same degree of difficulty of a diver of the 10 meter board that has all sorts of contortions and flips. That's just intentionally stupid.
