Mafia U strikes again...

Well after this, they should move on to Facebook. They could have tons of fun with that site considering UA pics are posted daily in groups and on profiles.

This is Mickey Mouse nonsense at it's finest...

Same thing I was thinking!! Some of the better pics that I've seen online have come from where guys who actually are photogs for the Athletic Dept. posting these pics to their personal pages as THEIR OWN. So maybe, they got a similar letter. I'll mosey on over to FB to check

Question - if another site is using a photo that is UA property, and we do not know it because it is not linked back to the UA site, thus we link from that other site, is TideFans liable? There is so much Bama stuff on the web...

I wonder if they'll allow our own artistic interpretations...

I'm talking to some folks about this - I won't go into any details right now, but I'm fairly certain this rule instituted by the University is pretty much unenforceable...

Speaking of Daniel Moore, I thought his victory would have made it more difficult for the university to pull something like this. Maybe one of our legal experts can speak on this.

I am going to start an online petition, but I need a good "Petition Statement".
Maybe someone who has excelled in English or has a way with words :), could come up with a nice statement for me to use? If so, either post it, or IM me, which will be kept confidential of course.

Thanks

There are much better ways to voice a protest than written petitions.
Nothing says "Protest" in sports any stronger than empty seats....

I never thought I'd have to defend my job and the practices of my own office on Tidefans.

I'm going to have to side with Alex on this one. I'd be willing to wager there are a lot of sites that use the photos for far more unscrupulous means (A definite intention to make a profit off of another person's copyrighted work), and the University sent down blanket emails to every possible site they could find. Unfortunate, yes... but they do own the copyrights on those photos and have the authority to enforce it. The digital age, though, has made that extremely hard to do.

I heard they were planning to use the same group that has successfully removed all porn and file sharing sites from the internet.

wait...

;)

So does this mean that I can't buy toilet paper and washing powders at the same time without paying a royalty to UA?:eek2:

Maybe they'll let me sign some kind of waiver at the cash register.
