You know what, it wasn't pretty, but it's a win. Here's one thing all the naysayers seem to forget.......COLT MCCOY DOESN'T PLAY DEFENSE!!! seriously texas couldn't stop us until we took the 3rd quarter off. i hate that everyone is saying we didn't earn this one and is calling it "mythical"

...."Mythical"....

In today's game...all you can do is give yourself a shot: Compete for the west..get to Atlanta and see how the chips fall. A national championship is like a unicorn, there may be ane out there somewhere but rarely do people see them.

Saban looks like a pretty d good unicorn hunter! One or two more in the next 7 years and he'll be known as a unicorn killer.

They are killing me here. I live in oklahoma and the what ifs are driving me crazy. I guess these people would give up the title if say both or our RBs would have went down right. Or if Ro and Marcel would have gotten hurt. I still think we win even with Colt. Frankly I did not like scoring right before half. Even Saban said it was hard to get the guys focused at half after going off on them. Be prepared, play hard and what happens, happens. I guess we will have to come back next year and do it again. At the end of the day it is simple envy. Roll Tide forever.

Everything is bigger in Texas. Especially the excuses.

Honestly I look at this game as God reminding the rest of America that football is still a contact sport and not a finesse sport. No better team to get that message across than Bama.

Hey Colby, been awhile man, hope you are doing well. Yeah, I can't see, for example, Saints fans complaining if they played the Colts in the Super Bowl and Manning going out. You hate to see it for Colt because he's had a great career and worked so hard to get to that point. But we still had to win the game not to mention with McElroy playing with cracked ribs. I give Texas a lot of credit for showing heart and not giving up. I think they have a great future QB in Gilbert and they have a really good chance of being in this game again soon with the talent they're bringing in.

Congrats to the team, for playing hard and fighting through the first quarter woes and then the 2nd half come back. Incredible season fellows...one we'll never forget.

If Texas is going to make an excuse for losing, then how about one for winning against Oklahoma when there QB was knocked out of the game. If Bradford doesn't go down, then OK probably wins and Texas may not even be in Pasadena.

I had expected McCoy to go out at some point in the game. I also expected fumbles and INTs from him, with his history. It was no secret that UT depended almost totally on McCoy's mobility and throwing. We were going to hit him hard and often, legally, of course. It was exactly the same plan as for LSU, and their QB didn't last either. Of course, I didn't expect it on the fifth play from scrimmage, but he was exposed, just as he would have been the whole game. Live by the sword; die by the sword...

I was pretty much expecting the same from him. Especially after seeing him play in the Nebraska game. They only had two REAL tests (Oklahoma & Nebraska) this season prior to the NCG and they only narrowly won those.

They can make excuses all they like. I woud like to think that Bama would have still won with McCoy in the game because they would have adjusted accordingly.

Injuries are unfortunate, but this is why you have to have your backups ready.

Agreed, I never want any1 to get hurt and I hope Colt is OK. That being said part of the game of FB is injury. Players get hurt every game some are dings some are more serious. Dareus wasn't trying to take him out of the game he was just taking advantage of an opportunity to get a good hit on the QB. It was just a exactly that, a good hit, I hate it for Colt and TX but it is what it is. We have a hard-nosed SEC D and we take people out, we have done it all yr. Dareus was playing with braces all over his body even after having an entire month off. Greg was playing with cracked ribs. Peek still had a brace on his knee. If we would have lost I wouldn't have blamed the loss on the fact that many of our key players were hurt. For TX to blame their loss on Colt leaving the game is childish. One man doesn't win games the team does, one man doesn't lose games the team does.

I didn't hear any excuses from Big 12 fans or anyone else when we lost the best left tackle in the country and his replacement only a couple of plays into the game. All I heard was " Your backups should have been ready". Well, UT your backup should have been ready. Also, last I checked, UT's defense gave up all but one of our td's and UT's coaches gave us the other.

If he wouldn't have gone out, I think a couple of more hits would have greatly affected his playing level. If you look at McCoy's past games he's played worse the more he gets hit, see OU, NU. I was upset with the pressure we were (or weren't) getting on Gilbert, but I think if Colt was successful early we would have sent some blitzes his way to shake him up.

But the team that wins the BCS championship game is always the team that has the most rushing yards and commits the least amount of turnovers. Why did anyone think this game would be any different? McCoy would have turned the ball over just as many times as Gilbert. He has in almost every single game this year. The bottom line is, you pass the ball on every single down, you're going to have a bunch of turnovers. However, Texas usually manages more turnovers than the other team so it evens out. The bane of a pure passing team is a team that doesn't turn the ball over and can run clock out with a running game. Alabama is exactly that team.

I heard the same kinds of excuses today. I finally asked one person, who isn't even a college football fan, if she made excuses for OK last year when FL beat them. That silenced at least one person.

Maybe if Mack Brown had not been so interested in padding Colt McCoy's stats he would have gotten his backup some playing time during the season. He'd then be prepared to play.
