Curious who is expected to leave early for the NFL. Obviously Tua and Terrell but who else is expected to leave?

Tua
Najee
Ruggs
Smitty
Jeudy
Jedrick
Leatherwood
Lewis
Moses

That’s all I can think of that will leave eligibility on the table. Maybe one or two more surprises.

This is total garbage. Not knocking the poster, knocking the info. Every year we are fed these lists saying we’ll have this huge number of people go in the first round and you end up seeing some of the same names still on the board in the 3rd.

Draftwire has 7 Bama players going in the first round.
29. Dylan Moses
25. Jedrick Wills
20. Trevon Diggs
18. Raekwon Davis
13. Henry Ruggs
4. Jerry Jeudy
3. Tua Tagovailoa

I have seen McKinney’s name as well as a 1st rounder. The name that I haven’t seen is DeVonta’s and for the life of me I don’t understand why he doesn’t get more respect compared to Jeudy and Ruggs. Nothing against either of them, but I think he will be the better pro.

I do think some of our guys get inflated draft grades because they are Alabama players. Mack Wilson is a perfect example. It’s not that they aren’t good, but once they get to the combine and every aspect of them is dissected three different ways, they don’t standout as much against the rest of the field. Najee is one of those that I see turning pro but falling to the 3rd or 4th round. Same with Ruggs. Tua, Lewis, and Jeudy are the only three I feel like should absolutely go pro early. The offensive linemen, I’m not knowledgeable enough to have an opinion.

This discussion at the football complex is a distraction for the players. Finish the season and then worry about next year. Frankly, outside of the receivers and linemen, and possibly Tua, everyone else who is an underclassmen should stay put. The athletic department should be allowed to buy an insurance policy for players who stay. Like some of the coaches who have left, many of these kids aren't ready for the NFL.

IMO, only your seniors on defense should leave for the NFL. Moses and McKinney should both return.

Moses is not ready for the NFL. He played very poorly last year and then had a season off due to injury. You don't get better without playing and his play last year would have had him washed out of the worst NFL team. Yes, he might go late in the first round, but only because there are few ILBs in this draft worth taking in the top 3 rounds. IMO, if he goes to the NFL, he risks dropping out of the first round, and possibly becoming a 3-4 rounder. Then he has to perform to keep his job as the team has no financial risk if they decide not to take the time to develop him.

McKinney might also go late in the first round - maybe. But he shows the potential to go much higher with another year running Alabama's secondary.

Diggs and Davis have to go - they have no eligibility left.

Sure wish we could have some of the underclassmen stay that are questionable 1st rounders or worse. Tua has to go...Juedy and Ruggs have to go...but man I'd love to have those LBs back and McKinney. Lewis is obviously gone.

Hopefully we get more returning than leaving. Injuries and early departures have decimated depth this year.

Terrell Lewis is another interesting one for Alabama. He will not go in the first round. He will not get a first round grade. But I wonder if he leaves anyway because of his injury history. He should return. 10 years ago there would have been no real consideration of his leaving for the draft.

That would be awesome if Lewis and most everyone else not in the 1st or 2nd round could return. Heck, maybe they will have the mindset of the Clemson guys who returned last year for their senior year. I realize that is difficult to do though, especially with what happened to Tua.

I think it is important that as many return as possible, at least on defense and Offensive line. That, plus coaching continuity. I assume we will have injuries next year like the past 3 years, so having people and coaches return will help with that.

When is the decision date? I may have missed that somewhere.

Jeudy should go. He's a sure first rounder.

I'm just not sure about the idea of going to the NFL due to your injury history. If these guys could play a year and prove they're healthy I think their stock goes up immensely. NFL teams aren't stupid and I just don't see them giving a lot of guaranteed money to guys that are far from a safe bet.

Offensive linemen should almost always stay unless they have clearly and unequivocally demonstrated mastery of their skill set. I don't think either of our guys fit that criteria yet. The OL really hasn't played well for much of the year and haven't been able to keep their QB upright.

Agree with the earlier poster about the mock drafts that always show 6-10 Bama guys going in the first round and then 3-4 actually do. There are a lot of really good football players in the country. So much wishful thinking out there that really doesn't jive with the reality.

That's the thing most people do not realize - every year about 70 players get a 1st round grade. About 30 players get a top of the first round grade (picks 1-15). Think about that. Clearly half of these guys are not getting drafted where they thought they were going to be. Those who fall out of the 1st round but had the potential to improve should have stayed in school.

This is why so many juniors come out early - a lack of understanding. The grades are not "lies", but they lack context. You can get a 1st round grade but have a very low chance to actually get drafted in the first round for many reasons.

This is why Saban tells his players to leave only if they get a draft grade putting them in the top half of the 1st round. Those guys are among the top 30 players and are very likely to go in the first round, which means guaranteed contracts, 5th year options and a real commitment from the team to develop you.

That said, not everyone wants or needs to be a 1st rounder to want to move on to the NFL (Mack Wilson). They are all human beings living complicated lives and sometimes their circumstances push them forward, ready or not. More reasons than we could list here. I just wish they got better advice.

I won’t ever hold it against a guy who wants to take a shot at their dream. I do think CNS and his staff do a great job in preparing them both on and off the fball field. He is also very honest with them from the time he’s in their living room until they put that Hat on on Draft Day. When they don’t take his advice I don’t think he’s “mad” at them but truly wishes they listened for their best interest. That said, it’s their life and I wish them all the best.

I would have loved to see some of those guys stay and played together. Some of them would have been unbelievable!!!

I don't hold it against them either, but some of these guys make huge mistakes and calling out those mistakes can help future players make better decisions.

Mack Wilson left a year early even though he did not get a 1st round grade. His total salary is $2.8MM. Only $308k of that was guaranteed. This year he would be a slam dunk 1st round pick even if he didn't improve at all. Why? Because this round has no great ILBs. Heck, Moses could go in the 1st without taking a snap this year because there are so few quality ILBs available in this draft.

Mack Wilson's ego cost him at least $15MM.
