F1 Singapore Grand Prix

Bravo to my man Checo Perez on a great win in Singapore in terrible conditions (wet track that wouldn't fully dry due to high humidity, rain delayed, grueling street circuit, high heat, etc). Started P2 and immediately jumped pole sitter Charles Leclerc for the lead and held it throughout the rain-shortened race. He had to fight off an early challenge from Leclerc and build a big enough lead that a 5-second safety car penalty wouldn't cost him the win. Very pleased as a Checo fan to see him break out of a slump, and the Red Bull strategy was on point as usual.

Verstappen was on a pole-winning Q3 lap when he had to abort due to insufficient fuel and started P8. He finished P7 which is actually impressive given an early lockup and pit stop that sent him to the back. His inevitable drivers' championship will have to wait at least one more race.

Good day for Ferrari - P2 and P3 and no strategy cockups. Bad day for Mercedes - P9 for Hamilton after starting P3 and P14 for Russell after starting from the pit lane. Both Aston Martins also finished in the points.

Mclaren had a good race, taking P4 and P5, while both Alpines DNF'ed. Frustrating for Alonso who was having a very good race.

6 retirements and quite a few safety cars and yellow flags demonstrate what a tough race that was. Drivers were actually training in saunas leading up.

Drivers standings - Max Verstappen 341 pts, Charles Leclerc 237, Checo Perez 235.
Constructors - Red Bull 576 pts, Ferrari 439 pts, Mercedes 373 pts

Next race - Japan next Sunday
