A serious inquiry, and please for my uneducated sake, please be impartial...

How would you grade the facilities in the SEC for each team?

I mean, I know a lot of people on here could give an opinion on the stadiums, etc... so I wouldn't mind grading the stadiums, campuses, etc.

For example, I went to MSU for a year. The campus was beautiful... the stadium so-so.

I would give the campus a B+, and the stadium a C-.

Alabama's, I would give an A or A- to the campus (I did not attend classes there), and BD with it's recent upgrades an A or A+ (probably a B+ tops before the upgrades).

Isn't BD the second largest stadium in the SEC, capacity wise?

Thanks!

I have been to Vandy and would rate the ease of picking up tickets cheap at A+

Parking a car near the stadium A+

Bars and resturants near stadium B+

Stadium itself a C-

*chuckle* I have no idea about the parking around MSU's stadium, I walked.

As far as bars... there wasn't jack squat in Starkville, save a bar or two, when I went in 95. C- or D+

I dont think you can really call what state has a stadium....its more like bleachers on steriods. Ole Miss's stadium is leaps and bounds ahead of States and of the three that i've been too (Alabama, State, Ole Miss) Ole Miss has the best though most expensive. BBQ!

Whoa Bama's stadium with the upgrades is near the very top of the SEC easy. I think it was better than Ole Miss's even before the upgrades.

Skyraper- UT has the biggest 100k +, LSU next with 92,400, Bama 92,138, UF next with 90+k, then I think it goes something like UGA, AU, then others.

Alabama seating capacity (92,138) is 3rd in the SEC about 360 seats less than LSU Tiger Stadium and Tenn. has just over 104,000.

I was wondering, because I keep hearing our fans, and fans of other schools, talk about how the school has "some of the best facilities in the nation".

Obviously, unless it's a huge 40-50 team tie for first place, there's more than one fan who doesn't really know.

So, how would our facilities rate in the SEC, or in the country?

Campus, Practice facilities, weight room, Stadium, etc?

Well, they are basically brand new, so I guess if you think another school's facilities are "better" it's just opinion. We paid a lot for em, I can tell you that!

We could always do what TN did to get their capacity up. Give each ticket holder 18" of bench space in the stands. 18" may sound like a lot but measure an average persons shoulder width and it id more than 18". By the way 18" is the minimum size for a man-way into a vessel. when you enter the 18" the persons arms are usually above their head to fit.

I've been to games at the following places: Alabama, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, LSU, Florida

Nobody can compete with the LSU crowd. The stadium is big and imposing.

Florida has a nice stadium, and when everybody does the gator chomp it's pretty cool. Still, Florida fans seem to think it's more imposing than it really is.

Bryant Denny is a nice looking good-sized stadium. Too many old people sitting on their hands and telling other people in front of them to sit down, though. If you don't want to stand up, you have three choices: (1) Stay home and watch on TV (2) Get a skybox (3) Sit in the handicap section. Also, the new scoreboards are underutilized. I want scores, stats, and replays; not pointless adds for a monopoly utility company.

Ole Miss's is smaller than most, but it's a nice stadium.

There are high schools with better stadiums than Mississippi State.

I thought UGA was second, ucheat was 1st,ls is 3rd and we are 4th.
I would like to know what the real plan is when we expand the south endzone
and how many seats are expected. Without a guess anyways.

come on Bama find 263 more seats somewhere!! Sell tickets for the ramp (maybe just three of them because no one will be near the ramp lady).

4th actually.
Tennessee - 104,729
Georgia - 92,746
LSU - 92,400
Alabama - 92,138

We were 3rd in the SEC for total home attendance is season, but Georgia had one less home game.

Tenn is reducing their capacity by about 3,000 in the next year or so to build
a new pressbox. I bet we have at least 105,000 when the south enzone is completed plus maybe a few hundred nook and cranny seats to add to that.

I think you just read my mind as far as complaints go about BD and the crowd of people unwilling to stand and always complaining about those who do. I almost got kicked out of a game this year for standing up too long. That never would have happened at LSU or FLA. I miss the days of being able to stand up for the whole game when I was a student at UA.

Sorry for going off subject....

I too don't like the fact that people sit on their arses during games. I miss the student section. People should expect to stand up whenever a play is about to start. The only sitting should be during time outs and between quarters.

amen to that...
i believe that the games in which i sit down are not very good games...

Is UT's 104,729 before or after the 3,000 seat reduction? If it is before then we could be looking to pass them with the south end zone addition.

Before. The 104,729 number is the capacity according to the 2006 NCAA attendance statistics (Sum Stad Capacity / Number of Games), but they actually averaged 105,789 per game (or 101.64% of capacity).

If a south end expansion were to mirror the north end (added 8400 seats), we'd be around 100,500.
