We had a solid recruiting class but didn't make a big splash in the portal, lost our top lineman recruit (through this was suspected for some time) none the less we lost our top recruit at a position of need. We are still going with "the backup" at OC instead of going and getting someone with a proven track record. The OL was terrible and that coach is still drawing a paycheck. I saw all this rosy optimism under Shula. Everyone else pointed out the obvious problems that were never getting solved and for five seasons everyone of consequence walked on us. In that entire time we got one upset win over UT when they fumbled the go ahead TD. Replacing milro will not fix all that is wrong.

"Kalen DeBoer's Crimson Tide are set to lose star quarterback Jalen Milroe to the 2025 NFL Draft, leaving the team with plenty of uncertainty at the most important position heading into next season."

Dumbest sentence in the piece. Demonstrates -- to me -- the author doesn't know what a STUPID season we just went through.
I've seen similar takes on numerous sites.

It just goes to show that many sports "journalists" know little to nothing about that which they write.

The writers may pick Bama to finish 3rd or worse for dumb reasons but also truth to it. No returning starter QB even if losing Milroe is an easy question mark and legitimate reason to lower expectations. Especially when a backup hasn’t played much or proven anything and or hoping a true freshman can be the answer.

Suspect Oline for 3/4 years in a row even with talent.

The biggest issue is no offensive coach changes at any level. That’s nerve wracking to say the least. Either CKD knows QB was 80%percent of the problem and has confidence in staff or he is over confident in them or I guess inside changes not announced.

Bama ended so poorly they maybe lucky to get third in SEC based on history. We all know the talent is there for a good year but right now it’s all question marks from coaches down to hell even the equipment staff. Overall SEC should be better next year.

Taking my crimson-colored glasses off I don't have an issue with their prediction.

Until proven otherwise we have the following question marks going into next season:

-Unproven QB position
-Offensive line issues
-Suspect running game
-Quality at OC

That's a lot question marks for a team expecting to compete for a title next season. We haven't gotten the OL fixed in several years now. What makes any of us think we will get it fixed this season? We've been trying to fix it for almost four years. Until these things are proven to be corrected, my prediction is 9-3 ceiling 7-5 floor. Get the QB and offensive line corrected and now we're talking about a title run.
Word!

We still have no identity on Offense as far as I'm concerned and we haven't had one for the past 2 years.

Bama is now perfectly positioned to prove what they are made of in 2025 while all the haters will have nine months to convince themselves that Bama is finished. Roll Tide!

Need a new o-line coach or 3rd may be the ceiling. You will be fine at QB and every other position
I’m certainly not trying to be a “Debbie downer” likewise, but whether we like it or not, from a coaching standpoint there are more questions than answers at this point.

Despite the big wins, the bad losses are bad enough it raises serious concerns. The UT loss is literally the only L that is understandable….not acceptable but understandable.

Then, so far into the off-season the only changes we have made coaching wise have been on the defensive side?? This was the best defensive unit since Jeremy Pruitt.

The inconsistency on offense, the lack of adjustments when the initial game plan failed, etc..

I know it’s easy to pin the blame on Milroe and nobody criticized him more than me…but at the end of the day it’s the coaches responsibility to call plays within his capabilities, and if he’s not capable, play someone who is….

Well, it really doesn't matter what some sportsbook or sports writers say. What will matter is what we do next season. I think we have enough talent on hand, and plenty of good talent coming in. In my opinion, this last season was a total failure. The defense seemed to get better as the year went on, but the offense went completely down the tubes, mainly due to QB play. I'm really anxious to see what we do next season with the 2024 issues in the rear view mirror. As someone mentioned earlier, it's doesn't matter where you start, it's where you finish. If we're not in the playoffs next season, then maybe we didn't hire the right guy.

Sad to say, the atmospherics around the program were bad 2023 and much, much worse in 2024.Defensive team captain throwing a temper tantrum on the field against Vandy. Offensive team captain that could not be bothered to tackle a DB who had intercepted him and was running for a Pick-6. Those are two terrible data points.
Important offensive player punches an opposing player in front of God and the officials after a 3rd and 8, turning the final offensive play into a 4th and 23.
Lots and lots of talent on the team still, but if these were an indication of the attitude on the team, talent won't fix that.
Maybe Coach DeBoer will tighten up their shot group, but if this kind of attitude remains, finishing outside the top 3 in the SEC is all but guaranteed.
