He's facing undefeated 6'5", 265 lb Brett "the Grim" Rogers. As usual, Fedor is giving up a lot of size. Should be a good card tonight.
looked to me like he was taking a whupping before he ko'd the dude. either way i like him.
Eh, Fedor got his nose bloodied by a jab early in the fight. But, IMO Fedor dominated - came close to getting several submissions and pounded Rogers with heavy hands.
This is something that I trained at when preparing for combat. I simply cannot see treating it as a sport. People who do this for a living are going to die young...
...do you feel the same way about boxing?
I have to say I love the sport. It has taken the place of boxing.
Don't get me wrong - it is pugilism in its rawest form. But it is killing people. I wouldn't ban it (freedom), but I won't support it, either...
Heck, football maims more and kilss more than MMA.
Of course it does - tens of thousands of people play football. Like I said, I wouldn't ban it, even if I could. People have a right to do this to themselves if they wish.
Having boxed with headgear, and having been through a great deal of other pugilistic training, I KNOW the abuse that their brains are taking. They are welcome to it.
And don't think that I am judging anyone who watches this. I love boxing, and I know what it does to fighters.
Imagine getting hit just once by one of those blows? Brain damage...
It also has been proven to be safer than boxing.
Yeah, in boxing you get hit in the head scores of times; the cumulative effect can be severe. And, if you get in trouble, you get a standing eight count so that you can recover enough to get beat some more.
In MMA, there are fewer head strikes because in the split second you are stunned your opponent finishes you off, and the ref stops the fight.
