I'm not going to even attempt to go back and read 200 posts on this thread.

I'm sure @Bazza has some thoughts and is probably really concerned.

I just couldn't believe how unprepared and mistake-ridden UF was in a season opener.

Thanks @BamaMoon - I do.

After a good night's rest and doing some VERY therapeutic outside work this morning, here's are my thoughts:

Upon review....as already mentioned, the biggest problem for us were critical mistakes committed at the worst possible moment.

4 penalties on third down and 2 penalties on 4th down....4 of which ended up causing changes in possession.

Special teams was also a factor. Utah routinely punted Florida deep - giving Florida poor field position all night. Utah also hit a 50 yard fg. Meanwhile we miss a chip shot fg and chance to make it 7-6. Then.....we commit one of the dumbest penalties ever having 2 players on the field with the same number - lose possession - and then Utah scores again immediately to go up 14-3. That was a 10 point swing.

Then we shank a punt - and Utah gets another 3.

So that's 16 points just because of special teams.

The defense was much better. Gave up only 3.5 ypc and only allowed Utah 3-13 on third down.

The new QB Mertz did great, IMHO. 31/44 for 333 yards 1TD and 1 INT. I'll take that all day long under the circumstances.

To summarize......Utah showed much better POISE than we did. And that makes sense given they were ranked #14 coming in....and for a reason.....

I think that all this is CORRECTABLE......very important for any who are trying to stay optimistic...like me! :)

Coaching staff has some work to do.

If we can clean this stuff up....we will compete this season in the SEC. And I'm really looking forward to seeing this happen.....

First coach on the proverbial “hot seat”?
I mean, Utah has shown over the last decade they can hang with SEC teams and even win when underestimated. Not sure the lizards were ready to play and that’s all on BN.
He’s in the “bigs” now; he’s got no room for error.

At first glance I thought you were trying to blame FL's problems on ME.
