No problem he would not have played anyway. Not sure who Leak's backup will be, maybe Tebow, but probably he is headed for RS year. With Dickey and Portis gone, the ranks maybe mighty thin at QB.

This is the article I was searching for on another thread. From the looks of things UM may not have the luxury of redshirting Tebow since he is the only other scholarship QB on the roster. I would love to see a JPW vs Tebow matchup this season.

He was playing as much WR as he was QB last year, anyway. I was kind of surprised UF even considered him in their QB mix.

Tebow is going to play quite a bit, out of necessity.

Not that there's necessarily a comparsion with Tebow....but isn't this the same situation that Peyton Manning had when he was a freshman at UT. He saw early playing time because of lack of depth at QB...didn't he? and that allowed him to develop into a great QB, but not without the growing pains that go along with it of course.

Yeah, there were two guys ahead of Peyton and Brandon Stewart, another true freshman. I'm pretty sure Jerry Colquitt was one of them. I don't know why I keep thinking the other one was Todd Helton, the baseball player. I can't remember if that was his year to be there, or Andy Kelly, or neither one.

Anyway, one guy goes down in the opener against UCLA, I think, and the other one didn't last much longer. Peyton and Stewart end up splitting the job the rest of the year, then Stewart transferred to Texas A&M, where he started but didn't exactly star.

Stewart played the second quarter of the UA-UT game that year and we weren't having much luck stopping him. We go to half, and Fulmer never reinserted him. He played Peyton the entire second half. I think if they'd continue to alternate QBs in that game, UT might have won.
