It was funny because it speaks to all the crazy autograph fees people are charging these days. I knew when I saw the go up this past week it would be high like this. But who wants to buy the block print for 30.00 and then get it signed. I can see paying for anyone's autograph but i think Cody's is a tad high. Considering he might go 3rd or 4th round if he's lucky. I think the folks that attended didn't know that Roman Harper did it for free because he's already rich and a GOOD guy, while Cody is a good guy trying to get rich.
I relate this to the " Brodie Croyle " days when he wouldn't sign anything,,and then it moved to " BC 12" , Now since he's struggling at best in KC he signs great through the mail..like many of the other players that are rookies. DJ hall ( is he even playing), Andre Smith, Kenneth Darby and many others are good to get now because they are not panning out in the bigs.
My advise to anyone trying to get big name BAMA players( or any for that matter) , just wait until they are drafted and then get them when they are riding the bench the first few years. Best time to get them is during team practice and/or after the games.
I remember getting Cody throughout the season and he was great to the fans and anyone ( even the stupid ebay scalpers) , but i guess money talks.

This post has the aroma of cow manure...

Considering the source and how many stories/articles have been posted that paint Cody in a completely opposite picture, I'm inclined to think that this is some hack trying to stir the pot.

I also find it hard to believe that Cody himself had any control over the price of the autographs considering the event was organized by some UA merchandising company. I'd also say that if Cody DID make any money from this, it was probably a very small percentage.

And the whole "get their autograph while they ride the bench the first few years" comment was out of line as well. NFL coaches are already frothing at the mouth over McClain, Ingram, Julio, Trent, etc. The days of all Bama players mostly riding the pine in the NFL are over, my friend...

I am one that believes that athletes don't owe me any thing but a good performance on the field. An athlete should charge what the traffic can bear when he is on his time for autographs, pictures, etc. If I can't afford what he is asking I won't ask. I will never ask CNS for an autograph because I know he doesn't like to do that. I respect his position.

Yep, cardboy sounds like he didn't make any money off Cody this time.

I personally think that charging for an autograph stinks. If an athlete doesn't want to be bothered by autograph seekers, don't make such appearances. If it's the event sponsor that plans to make money from personal appearance/autograph events, then advertise the fact up front before people show up. Cody should keep working on his weight if he wants to make money.

I detest these "I didn't get mine" threads, just like I detest autograph threads in general. They're not really football-related and they always end up bashing players for not bending over and spitting out autographs. I hope not to see any more..
