Yea, that’s it exactly. Geeze.
Law is running a Drag route from right to left and the only point where there is a slight opening to throw the ball a LB has inside leverage so it's probably going to get broken up or intercepted but Jalen still can't really do that because the pocket has collapsed and he HAS to step up and either run or ad-lib a pass.

Law completes his designed route and squats and Jalen sees him and gets him the ball.

The only other option was running but two Defenders had that contained.

Out of all the possible options available on that play Jalen made the best decision.

So when you say the defense broke down and the ball should have already been thrown you are wrong.

Would you rather him throw into Coverage and get picked in the red zone?

Another factor that has been consistently overlooked is how Jalen totally terrifies and distorts a defense because of his electric speed and quickness and his powerful and accurate arm on 20+ yard throws. It affects coordinators in their strategic approach, how they call a game, their instru to their players, etc. It affects the players causing them to often be overly focused on Jalen, peeking into the backfield, etc.

TS is a good athlete with a nice arm but like the vast majority of QBs, he doesn’t terrify DCs. .

You can count on Saban and DeBoer placing great weight on that factor.

Another factor in the debate is though most would agree that TS is a smoother operator of the offense, he has his shortcomings too. Something on which most rarely if ever elaborate, nor do I care to.

It is why Georgia had such a flawed defensive game plan last year.
