Game Thread: Auburn vs Mississippi State

Well, you know I can't say I am disappointed, but watching those two teams and watching us against a very bad Arkansas makes me realize we are going to lose to both auburn and MSU and probably TAMU. Not meaning to be a "sky is falling fan" but we are not a very god football team at this point.

i've been saying it since game one. We just arent nearly as good as we should be to compete for the title. I'm still waiting on a scheme change to help our secondary. Because you cant tell me that we dont have the talent back there. i think we'll have a tough time with ATM next week.

Hope you are watching how bad A&M is right now.

I'd put us and tamu in the same boat right now. But given how porous our pass D is and how anemic our O is I'd give the Aggies an edge next Saturday.

It is at home..so I give us the edge. May be another sloppy game though. You just never know what Alabama team will be on the field nowadays.

You are alright in my book. Heck, you even made me feel a bit guilty for pulling for MSU. In all seriousness, I have many friends/family/co-workers who are auburn fans and they really heckled me all last week about "losing to a team from Mississippi" as they put it. Funny how this time last Saturday night, my cell was exploding with texts and calls, yet tonight, my cell has been rather, uh, shall we say, quiet. ;) But, nonetheless, I like having you here. You guys will mop up the field with South Carolina in two weeks.

Thank you for the kind words.

It's going to be a rough two weeks, but I get along well with my Bama fan co-workers. We barners really shouldn't talk about losing to a MS school, we're only two years removed from losing to both of them.

Looking forward to making the ole ball coach think hard about retiring mid-season.

Funny how all the Barners are complaining about the offensive pass interference on the long pass to Sammie Coates. My son (a Barner fan attending LSU) just posted on Facebook about it being one of the "biggest travesties in history of college football". I replied with a couple of points: (1) Coates and Williams both are really good at extending the back arm to the shoulder of the defender to gain separation. In my opinion, he already had separation, thus no need to extend his arm. (2) The official was staring directly at the play. He must have seen something. (3) I believe when I showed you the video of last year's Iron Bowl of Auburn scoring the game tying score on a pass with multiple linemen 4-5 yards down field, you responded that those "were the breaks of the game". (4) I wonder if the official was tired or "out of position" due to Auburn running an a HUNH offense.

Think I'll send him some cheese to go with his "whine".
