It sickens me to see the Dr. Pepper scholarship competition done like that. They should be made to throw the football like a real pass.

It's because it's timed and only five yards away. It would take too long to wind up to try to throw a spiral and is likely less accurate at that distance.

If I were doing it, I would do an old fashioned option pitch.

I could live with that because it's a football play. What they're doing is more like a chest pass you'd see on the hardwood.
