Game Thread: Gameday 2010

Last season I started all the gameday threads the night before the game and opened the thread just before kickoff the results, a perfect season. I plan to try to do the same thing this season.

Each day before the game a gameday thread will be started and will continue in 4 parts.

Part 1 - Alabama vs Opponent pregame, this thread will be open from morning, when someone unlocks it, till kickoff then it will be locked and unstuck.

Part 2 - Alabama vs Opponent part I, covers the first half of the game. When the second half begins this thread will be locked and the second half thread opened then it will be unstuck.

Part 3 - Alabama vs Opponent part II, covers the second half of the game. Splitting the game thread into two parts makes sorting through the pages much easier for the moderators.
At the end of the game this thread will be locked and unstuck.

Part 4 - Alabama vs Opponent post game thread, this thread will be stuck at the top after the game for all post game comments.

I applaud everyone on their behavior last season, not much to gripe about and most gripes were legit.

I ask one favor and that is read the thread. If you see 3-4 people doing play by play don't be number 5 or 6. Redundant posts make a thread painfully hard to follow so if someone beat you to it back off and let them have at it.

I will be looking for those who can't make it to the game and for those who do, maybe you can post in the pre or post game threads. Roll Tide!

I always look forward to these threads, so thanks for that, Rich. One of my favorite things is sharing my gameday morning cup of coffee with y'all. Unless I'm at the game, of course, when I'd rather be at The Waysider than online here. :biggrin2:

Bayou, Thanks for your efforts. I remember fondly the days I was in Finland-Russia and could not get games except occasionally via ESPN Gameplan and the gameday thread was truly a blessing to be able to keep up with the game.

Now that I have an iPhone, it will be easy for me to check in and maybe provide a post or two from the stadium each week! My Blackberry left a lot to be desired when posting on TF or any site really! This has nothing to do with TF, but rather with Blackberry. The interface was fine but Blackberry makes it difficult to do much in reality. The iPhone on the other hand is just like being on my laptop!

with my new job, I have a sick feeling that I may be on site for one or two games...maybe more. Generally, when on site, I'm having to use my wireless card for internet access. Even if I can get a strong signal, how does streaming work? If I'm allowed 5 GB per month, how much does streaming use up? Or does that question even make sense?

Point being, for those games, I'll be trusting Tidefans for my updates!

I have a Verizon Hotspot with 5 GB per month. I was told when I got it that using it for gaming (Wii, PS3, etc.) online would eat up the the usage. I haven't tried it. I was also told that streaming would suck all the usage up also but I haven't tried it.

I will say that myself, my wife, and my kids are on the computer everyday and I am on it for hours at a time on the weekends. I have d/l a few cd's and uploaded a ton of ringtones and I have not even come close to the 5 GB allowance. I would give it a test run at the beginning of your billing cycle and then check your usage.

As for the Gameday thread's.....I LOVE EM!!!!!! Can't wait! We are working a lot of production Saturday's this football season so this site will be a life saver!!

I just want to remind everyone that the game thread is not a place to come and vent, bash players, call our coaches stupid or create havoc. If you can't behave find another message board with a game thread to visit. Those who can't take the subtle hints thrown at them might find themselves in time out for the day. Anyone who can't drink and type in a straight line also needs to think before hitting the submit button. We want the game threads to be informative and fun for all not just fun for the few who come to vent.
