This statement from UGA AD Josh Brooks last week:
“We want to emphasize that these individuals were not engaged in Athletic Department duties around the time of this incident. "Our review is preliminary at this time, and the Athletic Department is fully cooperating with law enforcement officials to determine all the facts surrounding this tragedy”.
So my question(s): So do we have any statements from the two survivors, particularly the staffer? How did this situation arise? Whose job is it to provide supervision or oversight of the recruiting analyst role? Are they (analysts) delegated duties via the Athletic Department or take direction from the coaching staff? Is this an isolated occurrence or is type of thing commonplace? And, what exactly put these two staffers and two student athletes together (which could be in violation of university policy)?
Look, people make mistakes. Young people especially. It could simply be a situation of “youthful indiscretion” that led to tremendously tragic circumstances.
But there are still a bunch of questions here needing answers.
