So, Georgia is going through same issues with players that Bama had few years back with DUI/ Drug arrests... If anything if the off season distracting, I expect Bulldog s to struggle this fall.

Listening to sports talk here in Atlanta has left me disheartened. Most callers say it's not uga's problem, nor Kirbys. It's those darn kids, society has to do a better job. The law of unintended consequences is in full effect here. I buy a semi-racecar with my NIL money or it is given to me. I pay my speeding tickets with same and of course I pay my lawyer when I hurt someone. And we find out Jalen Carter was driving on a suspended license that somehow the cops didn't know about. HORSE HOCKEY. Has anyone here been stopped in the last 20 years for anything and not have their license ran. I doubt it. At the very least they want to know your license status and if maybe anybody else is looking for you. That's just SOP.

The only way they somehow missed that is if they purposely did it.

From The Athletic:

Interesting factoid. The car involved here, you guessed it, a dodge charger, is registered to agent, was he part of NIL? Smells like a fish market on a hot summer day. I'm not the biggest Kirby fan but he's got to get hold of this.

Belongs to an Agent?!? I don't believe that is allowed even by the NIL (non) Rules...

After all the incidents at Florida I really don't feel we're on any moral ground here to point fingers at another program.

It almost feels like hexing one's self to do so.

I mean - who's to say in the next hour you don't see on the SEC Network/ESPN crawler "Starting Wide Receiver at Florida arrested for manslaughter"!

Not matter how much a program tries......seems like there's always going to be certain athletes who are going to misbehave.

It’s not the misbehaving (to an extent), it’s the coverups that really bother people.

I assure you if you had raced and wrecked a car full of college kids and your license was expired you would be in jail. You would not have left the scene in your own vehicle. Somehow this guy did.

Seems like the two teams that share the most mutually despised teams are Florida and Alabama, doesn't it?

I won't list them here in case someone hasn't had their dinner yet....:)
I hated y’all because we couldn’t get past y’all a lot of the time in the 90’s and 00’s and because of Urbans crap. But I had an underlying respect for Florida ability. My distain for Georgia is different.

I hear ya.

Believe it or not the majority of Gator fans have the utmost respect for what Alabama has accomplished.

Unfortunately the ones you hear and see more often are the loudmouths on social media.

I think those Bama/Florida battles we used to have were amazing.

Hopefully they will return again soon.

I think Napier will get us back on track, although it will take another year or so. We have a really good QB coming in in '24.

We shall see.....

the 2009 sec title game is still one of if not favorite Bama games ever because of how great Alabama played and how great Alabama had to play to beat Florida. Florida was that good that Bama had to play perfect to beat them. I respect that. Now I see Georgia fans trying to compare that to beating us in 2021. No Georgia was losing most of that game and they have re written history to act like they completely dominated the game from start to finish. I don’t respect that.

‘Out of control’: Reckless culture off the field marks UGA football team

Since Kirby Smart became Georgia’s head coach in late 2015, dozens of players have engaged in reckless, often lawless behavior that put them and others in jeopardy: excessive speeding, street racing and driving under the influence, among other offenses. Players have illegally brought weapons onto Georgia’s campus. They’ve gotten into bar fights. They’ve been charged with domestic violence and sexual assault.

But Smart almost always lets athletes continue playing despite their off-field transgressions. Suspensions are unusual, dismissals from the team even rarer.

On Oct. 5 last year, he emailed a list of names to Lisa Lowe, the chief deputy clerk of the Athens-Clarke County Municipal Court, and asked, “Can you check on tickets for the following knuckleheads?”

All three — Jalen Carter, Jamon Dumas-Johnson and Jackson Meeks — had “past-due infractions,” Lowe responded. At least one was in danger of his driver’s license being suspended.

Gantt made arrangements to deliver cash to the clerk’s office to pay the players’ fines. None of the players lost his license, and their cases were closed without their having to appear in court.

Wouldn't that be an benefit not provided for other students and would be a NCAA violation?
