IE exploit code released on the Internet | InSecurity Complex - CNET News

The link describes the vulnerabilities exploited by the attackers against several of our Silicon Valley companies. I was hoping some of our more technically minded members might be able to explain how Google became vulnerable to a weakness found in IE. Surely, they would operate under their own browser software, wouldn't they?

I hope this is not a teaser thread. If so, feel free to fix the title.

It affects end user systems. Google was a company that was used to spread the attack via proxy as a search engine.

It is time for our government to show the Chinese that we will not accept this. I could get together a team that would bring their government to its knees, so I know that our government can.

Sadly, we will continue to pretend that their government is not behind these attacks. Our government is run by cowards and has been for decades...

The Chinese are paying protection money in the form of financing our extravagance.
You are exactly right.
Nothing will come of this.
On the other hand, the Chinese military thoughts on total (or unrestricted) war are such that, when the time comes that they want to hurt the US, they will do so with every tool in the toolkit, including (one might say especially) cyber-attacks, that will devastate the US economy and government. Little ops like this are merely practice for the real attacks that will come later when it suits Chinese policy to attack the US. For now, the US won't make too much of this, so the Chinese will continue to buy T-bills.
As someone once said, "the borrower is servant to the lender."
