The 2021 game was absolute boredom. Sure, the end result was great but really.

If you set aside which team won the game, the following were good and exciting games:

1967
1981
1982
1983
1984
1985
1986
1992
1994
1995
1996
1997
2009
2010
2013
2014
2019

We won 9 of those 17 games.

Reality? Either team could have won all 17 of those games.

I remember being in Legion Field for the 1996 game. Elderly man next to me kept dogging the team out, I kept assuring him that we had it. Kitchens to Riddle was on the other end of the field, I couldn't see over the players on the sideline....had to wait for the crowd reaction to know what happened.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

No 1993? A I mean aside from Auburn being barred from TV, it was an exciting one.

I wouldn't call the '21 Iron Bowl boredom, it just built tension throughout the game until the moment was right. Bama failed to get a 1st down with 2 minutes to go and it felt like the game was over. Bryce takes Bama on a 98-yard drive in less than a minute with no timeouts. Four overtimes. Amazing.

I was at the '96 Iron Bowl as well. My dad took me out of the stadium when he thought we had lost. We walked around Legion Field to get to the other side of the parking lot and we heard the crowd roar. We went back in and I was field level in the end zone Bama was headed toward. I was 16 and everyone started pushing me toward the front. I climbed up on top of the fence to try and see, but even then I could only see the tops of the players' helmets. When Riddle scored, a large man I had never met gave me a huge bear hug and lifted me off the ground. It was pure pandemonium! That was one of the greatest moments of my life.

Honestly…. The 5 “greatest” in my lifetime are probably 1994, 1996, 2013, 2014, and 2019. Usually when they are “great” it means we lost. Because the rest in that top 10 are mostly Auburn wins.

For me the game we know as “The Iron Bowl” was at its zenith when it was played on a neutral site with tickets spilt 50-50. Since it went home and home it just hasn’t had the same meaning.

I'm surprised that one would be in the top 5 for anyone born after 2000. 2009 was a far better iron bowl, imo.
2009 was great, but no it’s really not better than 2019 as a game. 2009 was basically 2021 in which Bama got into a stupid struggle against an Auburn team that had no business being on the same field with them. They were great final drives but not really great games. Yes as an Alabama fan it is a treasured game but objectively it wasn’t as great of game. It’s like saying the 2009 Tennessee game was a great game.

2019 were basically equal teams once Tua got hurt. Mac and Bo having a duel was a great game like 2014. However, Auburn was gifted a crap play due to the refs that ultimately decided the game. But it is what it is.
