This is why I think we could be looking for a new DC soon if things don't change. It's not probable we change mid season but we have some guys on staff who have been DCs before and it's not completely out of the realm of possibility that things blow up worse over the 2nd half of the season.

Yes, we lost a lot of talent. Yes, its a new system. But how many times do you see a new DC come in to a team both at the NFL and College level and greatly improve the defense? It happens a LOT.

This is all unfortunate because I do really like the way Wommack carries himself and his general attitude. I hope he can turn things around.

Better today but the lack of red zone and especially goal line defense is still poor...we cant stop anyone with 1st and goal...

The defense gave the offense MULTIPLE opportunities to literally take control of the game.

I know we have more football left…but what gives anyone confidence in the rest of the season? I mean…we have the Vandy disaster, the SC *almost* disaster, and then the Tenn debacle today….

what makes anyone think anything is going to change in the 2nd half of the season?

I want reasons for hope. Maybe a win at home Sat against Mizzou, get to the bye week at 6-2…

then pray for miraculous healing???

I think the defense did well. Offense playing undiscplined and being unable to take advantage of opportunities ultimately wore them out at the end
Inside the 5 we should get to put up six fingers like an intentional walk and go ahead and let them attempt the PAT. Multiple blown assignments in the secondary that 70-80% of QB's complete for touchdowns. This alone made our defense appear better than they played on Saturday.

Offensively in Deboer's system the QB is huge. Milroe made multiple bad reads, showed extremely horrendous pocket awareness, missed multiple throws that were pedestrian at best, and has continued to show bad decision making particularly in the red zone. After going back and watching the game it is almost unfathomable he could be off that much on some of this throws and makes you wonder...

Overall this team is just not good.

I fail to see all these “improvements” you guys apparently see in his game.

I see an offense DESIGNED to cover up his weaknesses.
I agree with this...
Nah, overall the defense played well.
I do not agree with this.

Was DL play marginally better, sure but, this secondary is the worst I've seen at Bama for a long, long time. We got our butts kicked on both sides of the ball in the second half, 24-10 beat down. That's not a good defensive performance.

Oh, but what about the shutout in the first half? Well, UT left 3 TDs on the field because their QB couldn't hit wide open guys. Our secondary getting beat on almost every play is not good defense, it's luck that it wasn't worse.

This is just not a sound team on either side of the ball right now.

That isn't an Alabama problem that is a Tenn problem and you can't assess a unit's production on the other team's mistakes or what they should have done, because you have zero idea what the defense could have been doing (that you don't see from your recliner) to impact that play. They did their job and since football is a team sport and the offense has a responsibility to do their part and take advantage of three TO's the defense gave them, they carry a lot of responsibility as well. It's called complementary football. We knew going in we didn't have the defense to hold someone down all game long so when that defense gives you THREE TO's in the first half, they did their job. The offense dropped the ball on that one.
