Yes the time of year when we can pay lots of money to watch 3 minutes of action over the course of 3.5 hours. The time of year when entertaining sports radio is replaced by college, then minor league then MLB hours of nothing ad nauseum. Yes, the time of year when we get to watch grass grow, dudes spit and adjust themselves and they call it a sport. Well it isn't a sport and that's why i put it on the non-sports page.
For all you baseball lovers I just have one lovely image of baseball americana for you: Tommy Lasorda in (baseball)tights making hemorrhoid commercials.

as much as I love college football, my wife told me "you're acting like a little kid; will you settle down?" yesterday. Then, in the first inning she said "awww....look at you. Got your little Braves shirt on, got your beer and your dip, got your remote beside you, watching Opening Night....you're pretty happy right now, huh?" Aside from doing the voice where everything she said was "cute", she was right on!

THE SEASON IS HERE!!!!!!!

BLASPHEMY!!!!!! Not only do you like that wretched excuse for a sport but you are a "Yankees" fan???? This is Alabama. We don't like no stinkin yankees in these parts. Hell why don't ya just wear an "I love Gen Sherman" shirt in Atlanta? Why don't ya go to China for the Olympics and wear a "Japan was right!" t-shirt. You are a blasphemer and ye shall burn!!!!!!! :p_wink:

It's also the time of year when SportsCenter spends 55 of the 60 minutes on baseball highlights even though ESPN will show Baseball Tonight seven times a day.

how can you possibly hate soccer? think of all the riot highlights. think of the bags of urine and darts thrown throughout the crowd. think of the always fun Bolivian machete attack in the stands. that is some must see tv!!

 What do you watch ? The Style network ? HGTV ? Martha Stewart ? Lifetime ?

I love baseball. One of the many things I love about it is that you hate it.

Why hate baseball? Simply turn away. Like I do from Auburn.

Here is a video of my favorite baseball play:

The Rick Monday Save

That is exactly the problem- you can't turn away from it bc everywhere you go, there it is. It preempts countless hours of normal tv. Then when I flick on sportscenter they show highlight after highlight, then they follow that up with baseball tonight, then jim rome and pti talk about it. then i finally vomit and turn on the radio and it is filled with dc nats, i flip the station and it is putrid orioles, i flip the channel again and it is minor league at cal ripken stadium. then i go insane and shoot 4 people and drive off on some back road only to be confronted with little league. then i go to a sports park to sneak cigs in the back of the park and it is some church league softball game.

all of that and throughout the course of 60 hours of game time and another 300 hours of radio/tv commentary, you still only had 1 hour of actual action.

completely boring

You are my ex-wife. How did you escape? You didn't bite a guard's face off and disguise yourself as him, did you?

I've got the MLB Extra Innings, MLB.TV, tickets to Braves games, tickets to Yankees games, and the XM Radio. Only way it could be better for me is if they made steriods mandatory.

Someone tell the Braves they can stop sucking at their earliest convenience.

I have changed my avatar for this one day of the year, in honor of my fav team. I was a Dodger fan when they were in Brooklyn and called da Bums.

Well, 1st off - I have been a lifelong YANKEES fan (I'm 41). 2nd - My g-grandfather was scouted and offered by the Yanks in 1927 (played in the old club leagues of Alabama during the '20s, but due to a near fatal farming accident couldn't go). 3RD - This is TAMPA, spring home fo the 26 time WS Champs. 4TH - I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK!:eek2::biggrin:;)

Boclive.....why don't you just dvr the game, then fast forward through all the non-action and watch each game in 5 minutes. Then you could watch EVERY baseball game.

PS I am your ex-wife, you owe me alimony, child support, and medical payments for that "rash" you gave to me after going to Thailand.

I never thought I'd say this...... but I think I have to....... ummmm. I feel kinda pukey right now, but...... where is the red sox nation to battle these infidel, south-burnin, dog-kickin northern aggressionists???
