Has Alabama ruined college football for fans of other teams?

College football is what it always was to 90%+ of the schools. Those schools never won conference or national championships anyway. Their fans watched for love of the game or their school, not because they expected anything in terms of championships.

Now, they might believe that it has changed, but it has not. When was the last time that MSU won an SEC Championship? National Championship? If they have no hope now, they never did. They just believed that they did - kinda like the parody of the Gamecocks fan in the latest SEC Shorts vid.

ETA - it might be fair to say that it has changed for a few schools who had a fighting chance every once in a while. But MSU? Not so much.

I will say that what's not fun for me is a game like the OM game. Would much rather watch a 3-0 or 9-6 than a pony express game. That's a personal preference, I know, but it speaks to HOW the game is played now that's so much different than what we grew up on and revered. I'm glad we actually have the horses that are better than (at least most) everybody else's so we're still on the top of the heap, but it's not fun for me to watch shootouts. I'll take a 79-0 drumming of our rivals but when it's like 57-53 etc I hate it. I really couldn't care less about how the rest of the SEC or nation feels about our success. I hope they're miserable every time they see anything crimson.

The Mike Leach era is going so bad at State that they've already reached the "blame other programs for my lack of enjoyment of the sport" phase.

I would’ve expected better from SEC fans in regards to knowledge of the team they want to hate.

Freshmen do play at Alabama, some of them play a lot.

I mean, what does Mississippi State really expect? I think back to when they last won an SEC title and National Championship.........oh wait. IT HASN'T HAPPENED IN ANYONE'S MEMORY. So, for them to start blaming anyone is just a waste of their effort. They are who they are, mixed in with the occasional big win or successful-for-them season.

LOL, not only has MSU never won a NC in football, they've never won one in ANY team sport...

I get so tired of hearing about the benefits Bama gets from officiating.
I know. They are one of the worst whiners. The stats prove them wrong. Even the master apologist, Sir Bison couldn't explain the fact that teams playing Bama just never get called for holding. (When we got a couple of calls against UGA, my reaction was "Are you sure?")

There are a lot of MSU engineers around here. In fact, the largest MSU alumni chapter outside the state of Mississippi is here. They are nice folk. One friend, whose dad was the Starkville HS coach and later principal, graduated there and has a PHD from UAH. One day, in a state of depression, he ticked off all of the disadvantages MSU had, even vis a vis Ole Miss. I had to agree. MSU's problem is not really Alabama...

I think that the problem, especially over the past 2-3years is that the SEC schools have dropped off from being pretty good teams for the most part to mediocre teams except for a couple and Bama is scoring more than it ever has. You combine the two and we are just crushing teams. Even the Ole Miss game that was close, you could see Lane Kiffin at the end of the game with a look of hopelessness because he put everything he could into that game an still came up short.
