hey folks...
i've been in contact w/ the 3rd party service. Their techies have apparantly isolated the problem and are implementing a fix right now. Obviously, many of us are able to get in now.
I'll try to explain the crux of the issue.
In short, this issue has nothing to do with us or our servers. It has everything to do with the company that has our domain name server (DNS) hosted.
1) When you enter "TideFans.com" our registrar for our name sends the request for the page to CommunityArchitect (CA).
2) CA is our DNS server company - meaning that tells your browser which "real" server to go to to serve the page.
3) The normal operation is for it to send
www.tidefans.com to our servers, freemail.tidefans.com to our free email service.
4) Practically everything else is a free webspace site hosted on the CA side.
Somewhere in step 1 and before step 2, their service is not sending the request to our servers. I'm evaluating the free webspace service and if this occurs again, unfortunately, I may decide that service is no longer a viable option and will have to change our DNS host.
Thanks for your patience and recognition of the fact that it has nothing to do with anything on our side or our servers. I think you all appreciate the fact that the upgrades we made this summer performed fabulously well over the course of the season.
Thanks for all your continued support of TideFans.com!
