Have EVs Reached A Short-Term Peak?

Saw another e-bike brand I never knew existed this morning. Did some digging and looks like a company out of California and there are a few dealers in our area.

https://www.hovsco.com/

Looks like the owner added a few accessories for his steed.

Base price: $1,799 (reg. $1,999)
+ Rear mounted children's seat $159
+ 20" running boards $99
Total: $2,057. + sales tax

I looked at the specs and didn't see anything special about this one over the last two I bought.

I guess the step through design would be helpful for many, so should be mentioned.

Maybe I will run into the owner another time and get his/her take.

You'd have to be a contortionist to step over a top bar with that thing on the back...

Another Heybike down by the jetty being used by a fisherman. I almost made it to 27th when the rain hit so I u-turned it back home in 5th gear....sucker was moving around 30mph...which is pretty quick on the beach here.

That fisherman passed me going the opposite direction just south of main street.....he was booking too!

Note the cast spokes so no issues with corrosion......

Also no problem with spokes poking through and rubbing a hole in the tube...

A lot of the step-throughs have wobble issues at speed. I ruled them out...

I've heard similar, but my first one doesn't do that - however it's top speed is only 20mph and it doesn't have fat tires.

I've retired it from the beach now that I have the two faster ones with the fat tires and mostly use it for commuting....and lately for getting me back home after riding one of my motorcycles over to my storage unit. Will be doing that again this week, in fact...:)

I cannot imagine listening to Hell’s Bells or Shook Me All Night Long or I Love Rock‘n’Roll or Crazy Train or Jump or Tubthumpin‘ or She’s So High or a hundred other road songs without a manual-transmission ICE straining in the background.

It’d be like blissing out to Bread or Air Supply.

I’m no fan of Glas-Paks — anybody remember those?. But goodness gracious.…a silent acceleration, no matter how neck-snapping, just can’t deliver the visceral reaction.

Electric vehicle start-up Fisker files for bankruptcy
In a Chapter 11 filing Monday, Fisker cited “various market and macroeconomic headwinds” that have made it hard to operate. It’s the latest sign of trouble in the electric vehicle sector, which has struggled with supply chain problems and flagging demand over the past year after a surge in 2021 and 2022.
