there are no violations anymore. It is free market. No rules. Buying a player is cool. Just straight up handing over bags of money with giant dollar signs on them is just fine. Nothing to see here.

Let’s say it is a violation. I don’t do the Venmo type stuff. Can Ballo refuse the payments or does it just dump in his account? Can he refund the payments? If he’s not considering all the angles here, he could be getting painted into a corner here and have to go to the draft. (This is just me thinking with my fingers.)

Yeah and I just thought that football was insane with the portal. Basketball is literally just gone. It’s like having a pickup game out in playground or the Rec center. AAU teams have more stability. The NCAA is a nonentity at this point. The universities need to get their act together because the cash cow they think is going to last forever is going to die if they don’t get some guardrails up and soon.

As it stands right now, there is no such thing as a student/athlete anymore. Players are basically signing off on one year contracts, and if they think they are good enough to move up to the next level, they are gone. If that doesn't work for them, the players are shopping around to see who can pay them more.
