High Schools where refs are reportedly in the bag

I’ve always heard about certain high schools where the refs have reportedly been in the bag. Teams that if you had to play them, you would always be told, you’ve got to play the refs too.
These same schools are the ones you would always hear were recruiting players from other schools. Always seemed to be a lot of money around the program.
I have talked to a person that went to one of these schools and they admitted it was a thing at one time.
Just wondering if anyone here has seen/experienced it.

Who knows for sure on that kind of thing, you'd like to think not. Having said that, I did catch a game this season that would make one wonder. Prattville @ Smiths Station. Prattville was called for more penalties than any other game thus far, had at least 3 touchdowns nullified, and Smiths had more than a couple of drive extending penalties of questionable validity and eventually overcame a 14-point deficit. Smiths is 1-7, with losses by 19, 38, 44, 14, 18, 17, & 28. Prattville on the other hand, is 6-2, with wins over Foley, Opelika, Enterprise among others. The other loss was by 4 to Dothan that Prattville lead late and gave away at the end. I'm not accusing anyone of anything, but it's enough to make one wonder if...
