Gman!

the barn is the barn. No respect. 13-0 and nothing. They were the first loser. 2nd,who cares. 2nd or 22nd. The prize is the prize. Second sucks. They could recruit the nations best class 10 years in a row and still never win it. They never have and never will. Fact. :eek2:
Recruiting is guessing an 18 year old kid can produce under more pressure than theyve ever been under. Some do most dont. Get kids that fit your system/style and most of the time you win. Get egos and top 5 class' and they play like individuals. Its the day of me and I and not team. When you get kids like that thats how they play. See T. O.
Football is a team sport and I had rather have kids that leave it all on the field, dont talk smack and are unified anyday over a top 5 recruiting class. I had rather have a championship over an individual award (heisman) anyday.
Jell as a team and you produce. Want to be in the spotlight and run your trap, let your team run rough shod and break rules and your probably gonna get yours handed to ya eventualy. See tenn.

I believe for in state recruits we have the edge over Auburn, but there are still some big in-state names on the board that will decide the outcome. Not sure who we have gone head to head with them out of state. Typically we get the cream of the crop from Alabama, the majority of Auburn's recruits have always come from GA and FL.

I don't understand how a lifelong Alabama fan can honestly even entertain the thought of going to play for another team. When they are a scholly offer from Bama. I just don't understand. It may just be me.

Really, though, we should have a bigger in state edge

At least 3 to 1, as we have that much fan advantage.

But the Barn put alot in the pro's last year... our expense with all the probation.

That will help them with recruiting.

I'm a little bummed about getting Hawthorne, though. I mean, it's so obvious we need WR's and we are having trouble recruiting an in-stater... just bugs me. I think we're fine, and would rather have an extra DT...

Bama vs Barn

It really is hard to say since Bama's probation period has affected the results of recruiting the last 3 years..................but next year the field will be level again. However, with todays kids tradition just does not make as big of an impact as it did in thier decision. Yes, there are exceptions as in Deadrick & J Johns, but as a whole most are more in to what is happening now! :mad2: IMO, that is why it is very important for Bama to have a good Bowl game and next years season! ;)

I really don't see Auburn and Alabama going head to head that much because most kids are fans of one or the other and will concider one or the other but not both. The thing I look at is how many 4 and 5 star guys do they sign compared to us.

One other thing I've been told is that Auburn signs almost exclusively Defensive lineman and they switch some to OL while Shula signs OL and DL seperately. To date I think you'd have to say the Auburn system works better. Of course I guess we will need a few more years to know for sure and since most big time lineman play both ways in HS it may not really matter.
