How many SEC teams in the Big Dance?

College RPI and ESPN both have 5 getting in, but I have my doubts.

Alabama, Kentucky and Florida are in, and LSU has played themselves in. Both of these sites have M$U in, but I think they have dropped to being a bubble team. They had best go no worse than 3-1 in their remaining SEC games.

IMO there are 8 teams fighting for 4 spots possibly 5 . . .

Kentucky, Alabama, Florida are definantly in

LSU, MSU, USC, Vandy, Arkansas are all fighting for 1 or 2 spots, all of these teams have a chance if they can run the table or have a good showing in the SEC tournament.

I think as long as LSU goes 9-7 in conference then there in
MSU and Arkansas should both have 20 wins by seasons end, so it would be hard to keep one of the two out.
Vandy and USC are on the outside looking in. Vandy has a solid team this year, but they just aren't going to get a chance with 5 teams probably going ahead of them. USC has only 1 win against a top 50 RPI team and that will make a big difference. I think if Arkansas had taken care of business in Vandy last weekend then they would definantly be in.

Arkansas has Tennessee and M$U at home before going to Auburn, so they have a legit shot at finishing the season 20-9.

M$U is 18-8 and has a good shot at finishing 20-10 with a game @ Georgia and Ole Miss at home. They will lose to us and UK.

The only reason LSU is being mentioned for the dance is the fact that they will finish 2nd to us in the West. They will finish 18-9 with wins at Auburn, Ole Miss, and at home against Vandy

So I predict FIVE teams, with a very strong possibilty of SIX.

How can you deny any less than 5 SEC teams with 20 or more wins, and a very good Florida team who will finish with 19-20 wins?

I also agree with this statement, the SEC will do a lot better than people think. Except for Kentucky and Arkansas (if they get in the dance) They're lack of experience will hurt both of them. They have a lot of very young talent. Teams like Florida, Alabama and M$U should have good tourny performances based on a lot of good leadership and experience, esp. State if they can get healthy, I think the loss of Frazier hurt their season more than anything else.

20 wins don't mean crap anymore without a strong RPI. Alabama was made the poster-child of that fact when their 20+ wins and weak RPI got them a ticket to the NIT.

I say 4, lucky if we get 5. Overall it has been a down year for the conf. as a whole but a LOT of the teams are VERY young and will be VERY good. i.e. LSU, Arkansas, the Barn, UK, and Bama (still young just with experience).

Luck for the SEC to explode with talent the next couple of years. It should be fun.
