Question: How much longer will Freeze be the head coach at Aubarn?

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

My wife used to work for a guy who knew Franklin and said he would never leave either. Almost as soon as he said it, Franklin was Penn State bound.
Coach Bryant could have left Alabama for more money at the Dolphins, but didn’t, because Alabama (his alma mater) and the college game were a better fit for him even if it was for less money. That’s a better analogy for Clark Lea at VU (his alma mater) than is Franklin (not a PSU alum, but from, and played college ball in, Pennsylvania)…

Well he made the decision to make one of the more infamous posts on the board knowing full well the response he would get, and then cried about it when he suddenly had 90% of the board totally be done with him afterwards. It’s just ironic it’s after a Tennessee game that we are talking about him.

TBH I miss B1G and LSUgradbamadad far more than that fool.
What happened to Big? I liked him.

Check his record pre Pavia and the two he brought with them.
I think Lee has figured out how to make Vandy competitive in the modern era of college football. After forever as the SEC doormat, how attractive is this for Vandy alum and supporters? I think they will pay a lot of money for Lee to continue doing what he's done the last 2 years - he beat Bama, he beat LSU, Vandy is ranked.

I don't see Lee leaving to go to Auburn. He's a hero at Vandy right now. He's not going anywhere.

Yeah... He had to clean the roster up and reset things coming in for sure.

I think now that the portal is in full swing and we've seen so much parity last year and this year, it will be interesting to see if he can build something at Vandy, or if he chooses to do so.

Few thoughts:

-With SMU's win over Clemson this weekend, Lashlee's chances of returning to Awbarn have increased imo.

-Lea could be Sumlin 2.0 with Pavia. Time will tell if he can win once Pavia has played his 13th and final year of eligility in 2032.

-Freeze's presser sounded like he knew his time was coming to an end. It should be any day now where we get the news.

I think it's hilarious they are about to fire him timing wise.

I mean I get they have lost 4 straight.

But they have lost to 3 Top 10 teams and 1 Top 15 team in close games.

OU is 6-1
8&4 is 7-0
UGA is 6-1
Mizzou is 6-1

I mean at least wait until you lose a game you were actually supposed to win.

“We’re supposed to win them all!”

I think Lashlee is the obvious choice but for some reason I think they will go a different direction. Aside from Gus and Freeze Auburn almost never hires who you think they will.

Not trying to be funny but Hughs health looks bad on the sideline, I think they will let him coach to the end of the year and he'll step down because of health issues
CHF would be an absolute idiot if he were to voluntarily step down and not take the pay out and force them to fire him. He and his agent know how to play this out where it is fiscally best for the both of them. At some point the Barn will have to do what it is extremely good at, firing another coach.

Interesting article.

Auburn's problem (offensively) is at one position, and that's quarterback. The kid cannot pass the ball effectively. It was their problem last year. They didn't have a quarterback that could pass the ball and when you can't pass, your offense runs about as smooth as trying to roll a cinder block across a football field.

If Freeze can get a quarterback they would have a very good offense. They've got very, very talented WR's and Freeze has always been able to run the ball well. But all of that doesn't matter if your quarterback can't pass the ball worth a darn.

The barn's remaining schedule is: at Arkansas, Kentucky, at Vanderbilt, Mercer and us.

The betting line is Arkansas -1. Essentially a pick'em game. At home, they'll be favored against Kentucky. If Pavia is healthy, they'll lose to Vandy. Then crush Mercer. Then comes November 29. The way-too-early betting line has us as a 7-point favorite.

Today, the barn is 3-4 overall, and 0-4 in the SEC. Given the remaining schedule, I'd expect them to go between 2-2 and 3-1 over the next 4 games. Which would put them 5-6 / 6-5 overall and 1-6 / 2-5 in the SEC going into the game against us.

If we win, they're 1-7 / 2-6 in the SEC, and Freeze is clearly gone. If they beat us, they are 2-6 / 3-5 in the SEC. But they'd have a win against their white whale. If that happens, I think they keep him and lay yet another substandard season at the feet of the SEC refs.

So unless The Right Reverend yaks up hairballs against both Arkansas and Kentucky and is gone before November 29 -- not likely, but also not impossible -- I think it comes down to that game.

Rev knows this and I have zero doubt he's been preparing for us since about 30 seconds after the Mizzou game ended. Given the barn's Ahab-like mindset about us, it's actually the logical thing to do. Nothing else really matters to the barn decision-makers.

Put it another way: Has a barn coach ever been fired after beating Alabama?

Heaven help us if Vandy and Lee wet the appetite of some other super-wealthy less football centric schools like Duke or UVA to start dumping money into their NIL coffers.
