I watched that mess down on the plains until our game cam on, MSU is a poorly coached team ... (that's PERIOD)... = Memphis must really be bad!

UGA doesn't have an SEC caliber running back, their best running back is now a Jax State Gamecock.

At this point of the season, we can't block the LSU front 7.

Vandy will most likely finish ahead of UK in the East.

I'll play......and keep in mind I'm basing this on what we have seen 2 weeks of play in... and is very subject to change. I'm only going to cover the SEC team records.

SEC WEST:

Team Overall SEC (loss(es))
Alabama 11-1 (7-1) (FL) West Champs on head to head tie-breaker
LSU 11-1 (7-1) (UA)
Arkansas 10-2 (6-2)
Miss St 8-4 (4-4)
Auburn 7-5 (3-5)
Ole Miss 3-9 (1-7)

SEC EAST:

Team Overall SEC (loss(es))

UF 9-3 (6-2) East Champs
USC 9-3 (5-3)
UGA 8-4 (5-3)
UT 6-6 (2-6)
Vandy 6-6 (2-6)
UK 3-9 (0-8)

SECCG - Bama wins rematch with Fla

In the West, I predicted before the season we would go 11-1(with either LSU or us ultimately winning the division) and that the barn would finish on the high side at 9-3--so far I've seen nothing to make me think otherwise. As long as the barn can get gobs of points and has Malzahn on the sidelines they will be in EVERY game, though I think the luck eventually runs out and they lose a few.

In the East, my preseason pick was USC but I could now see UF possibly sneaking in and winning the division. The gamecocks have not been that impressive.

I think that Bama will lose to either Arkansas, Florida, LSU, or two or three of those. Our defense, while great and possibly the best in the nation, has a couple of weak points that will be exploited, and I'm not sure our offense and make up for that. Dre, Lester, Barron, and our linebackers are as good if not better than advertised. However, I saw Menzie and especially Milliner getting beat all over the place against Penn State. That combined with our DL not getting any pressure up front is gonna give some good QBs the chance to pick on DMil, which is a huge part of how Auburn won last year. I'd like to see Fulton and Phelon get some PT. On O, our inability to impose our will on other teams is going to hurt. I think we'll have an excellent passing game, with AJ, Maze, White, Williams, Carter, Bell, Norwood, really like those guys. And I hope to God we run to the outside more often than the inside cause that play ain't done nothing. I hope we use Fowler and Lacy just as much as Trent because teams are going to be loading the box for Trent and it will take them a while to realize how good those guys are. But our OL has got to get meaner.
I hope our defense can prevent us from falling behind by more than one score. On offense we just run up the middle and there are very few yards before contact. There is seldom a hole for the backs. They just plow into the line and get what they can. The passing game is still developing. This offense just isn't geared to come from behind. Our defense is great but we better not ask TOO MUCH of it.

I see them with L's against Clemson, SCe, Arky, Fla., LSU definitely...and of course Bama. No better than 6-6...and lucky to get that.

You beat me to it Mack...with a better post, I might add.
Clemson barely beat Wofford -- not sure they can beat Auburn......

It's a very small sampling at this point with an easy read for some-Georgia, and not so easy for others-Arkansas. However...

Alabama - Just what I thought they were. A work in progress on O because of young QBs and finding playmakers/consistency at WR. D is solid and improved at getting to the QB, but not great.
Arkansas - Hmmmf who knows, wait a week. They'll be quite good and could surprise a lot of people.
Auburn - Malzahn continues to prove he's one of the best OCs in the game. AU has recruited quite well, and the D needs work... lots of work but should be fairly good by the end of the year.
Florida - Hmmmf who knows. Not much to see here, Brantley fits the O better and Muschamp has the D intensified.
Georgia - Mark Richt is done... DONE!!! Unless he learns to walk on water and heal the GA FB program!
Kentucky - Joker Phillips may be a Joke, especially with Franklin looking to push Vandy out of the cellar.
LSU - Everything I thought they were. Alabama's equal and Co-Best Program in the country with Alabama.
Mississippi - Houston Nutt... see Mark Richt. With RBs falling like leaves in Oxford Ole Miss' best hopes for a successful season are fading fast as they truly could field a nice RB rotation and good talent at along the OL. However they may have found their QB for now and the future... the 3rd choice looks pretty good for now.
Mississippi State - Dan Mullen didn't hang the moon after all/one season does not a resume make... Mike Dubose/Shula anyone? With MSU not sneaking up on people we'll see how good or not the MS version of the English Bulldogs are this year. They're going to compete but will have a hard time matching last year's success even though they're equal/better than 2010.
S. Carolina - Spurriers best shot to win the SEC has arrived, sadly it all depends on the erratic arm and behavior of Garcia. D makes plays but needs work to become consistent especially against teams not coached by Mark Richt... who still put up big offensive #s against them even with tons of freshmen playing.
Tenn - Dooley has things headed the right way and can finally just coach football and not put out Kiffen-fires. My dark horse for the east.
Vandy - Franklin talks the talk and has Vandy walking the walk against defending Big East champion... soon he'll find out what real football is all about.

Not much has changed overall from the beginning of the season for me, just clarification and further evidence of what I already knew.

It looks like we are on the same page again dman. I said in the summer that au would go into Columbia, SC undefeated and still believe that to be the case. Clemson has actually backed up under Dabo. While I still think USC wins the East, UF could be a spoiler especially if they get by UT and Alabama. Lots of SEC football left.
