Question: How would you rate our DL so far?

Against the run we’ve been phenomenal. Pass rush takes time and we’ve sometimes shot ourselves in the foot by running into each other on stunts.

J. Eboigbe seems to be turning into our best interior rusher as the season progresses. Oatis has also moved the pocket and gotten some QB hurries. Would still love to see Jamil Burroughs get a chance on 3rd downs more but haven’t seen him a ton lately.

Pass Rush= B-
Rushing D= A

We seem to be using that mush push to keep mobile QB's in pocket. The DL gets minimal pressure, but OLBs are flying around

They've been great stopping the run. A new pass rush scheme was put in place, and it's taken a few games to adjust. But I think they're there now. Even Dale got a sack against Vandy. Dale seems to be recovered and is playing really well. They all are. The entire defense is playing well. They seem to get better with each game. Arky will be the first true test though.

We'll probably utilize A LOT of the mush rush this weekend against the swine. Their QB can burn you with his legs and we cannot afford for them to bust several long runs because our DL is getting too far up field and he zips past them.

Considering statistically it’s probably the best defense in the country, I would say they are playing pretty well. First in Yds /play, third in scoring ,second in total defense, first in TDs allowed, first in passing defense, 4th in rush defense. Overall, a pretty good defense.

The broadcast Saturday was talking about how defensive coaches across the board have acknowledged that with offenses going to more of a short, "get it out fast", passing game, it is much harder to expect sacks. So the measure of success has shifted to impacting the quarterback in ways other than just sacks. So, sacks may not be the best measuring stick for how good a DL is performing.

Good point. Getting consistent push and keeping your hands up are just as important. We’ve got to make sure Jefferson can’t break a big run on us. Hopefully the LB’s will get a shot here and there as well.

I am disappointed that Damon Payne has not made any impact or even seen the field so far. This guy was ranked 24 in the 2021 recruiting class. I really was hoping for great things from him. Realize only a sophomore so there is still time but he is 3rd on the depth chart at DT.

Our defense is doing a good job on getting off blocks. Should end up in the top 5 defenses at the end of the year. Just to think many wanted to run Pete Golding out of town last year.
