I saw this talked about on the Today Show so I thought I would post a link here.

Supposedly, it is now considered bullying when you lose a game.

Buchanan, whose team is averaging 69.3 points a game and is on its way to a 7-0 record, said he is not sure what else he could have done besides telling his players to take a knee.

Baylor has put up 70+ points in four of their six games this year and racked up 69 in another. Their combined score is 388-97.

I don't see that as bullying; I see it as a historically crummy team exacting revenge for all those years they were annihilated. :)

The team was playing third stringers and running the ball. Sometimes stuff like this happens.

When I was in high school, we were up something like 30-0 going into the fourth quarter. All the starters had been long gone. And then a really weird sequence of events began.

1. We kickoff.
2. They fumble at the 20 yard line. We recover.
3. We hand of to a 4th string fullback with the moves of a blindfolded three year-old with his shoelaces tied together. He promptly goes for a touchdown.

Repeat four times. The only thing that varied was whether they fumbled on the kickoff or on first down.

By the time the dust settled, we had won 72-0.

Yeah it sucks, but at some point, the coach of the team getting its brains kicked in needs to call the game.

A 91-0 spanking might be HUMILIATING but it isn't bullying.

Geez, I feel like Reagan. Back when he was governor of California, he was on a campus where unrest was going on. Some hippy shouted repeatedly, "We are the future."

Reagan told his aide to give him a pen and paper. Reagan wrote and displayed, "I'll sell my bonds."

If THIS is the future, I'd better cash in now.

To avoid being bullied, maybe the parent should help his son's team get better at football. Just a thought.
Or, maybe dad is fine with his son's team getting annihilated in the 1st quarter as long as the other team is anti-bully and literally stops playing as soon as they are up by a few touchdowns. The son is learning a very important lesson - it's fine to never be any good as long as you can hold the people who are succeeding down.

Just this past weekend we were up 45-0 over Arky with less than a minute to play in the game when freshman RB Derrick Henry burst through their secondary and ran 80 yards for a TD. Is anyone going to call CNS an accuse him of bullying against Arky?
No, and you know why? Because like in the case above, if you are going to put your team on the field, you have to do your best, but you also have to be ready to take your lumps.

The sad part is the coach of the winning school is required by law to investigate the allegations and file a report with the school district. So he has to talk to his coach, the other coach and maybe a couple players and type up what he discovered rather than doing his real job of running the school.
