Huckabee?

He's a very effective public speaker and has a very likeable image. He's great at thinking and speaking on his feet. He's got two big things going for him:
1. He is the real deal when it comes to religious conservatism, which no other major candidate for the GOP nomination really is. This means he appeals to a large segment of Republican voters who should be totally disgusted with the leading two candidates.
2. The press likes him because of the way he presents his message and the fact that he has a record of supporting social programs. It could be phenomenon where he gets a lot of love in the media, a la McCain 2000.
He'll make some serious noise in Iowa, but the GOP establishment has already decided who to give the media and money support to. Giuliani will ride all the way to the nomination by mentioning the numbers "9" and "11" as much as humanly possible in the hopes that enough socially conservative and pro-gun will voters forget everything he stood for prior to becoming a presidential candidate.

Huckabee would get my vote. As the Governor of Arkansas he would appear once a week on the morning sports radio show and take calls from the public for one hour. If you had an issue he would address it right there and then. Nothing ever seemed to catch him off gaurd. Well spoken and prepared. He will get swept under the rug because of his strong faith and belief in God.

Huckabee has his merits, but America needs more than a polished face and orator. We need someone with ideas to restore the principles of liberty and freedom that this country was built on. Not the culture of fear and suspicion that have robbed us of our many of our rights.
Who cares who the media is giving love to? When are they ever right about anything? They are there completely and utterly to sell newspapers or air-time. Any semblance of civic duty has been lost long ago.

Ron Paul is not because I don't think he's ever cracked double-digits in any of the polls. Huckabee has, leads at least in one poll, and is coming on strong on the other candidates.
Whether you are a Paul supporter or a Huckabee supporter (I am neither btw), you can't ignore that.
Maybe Paul, Tancredo, Hunter and Hucakabee need to form a coalition within the GOP to present a formidable candidate.
Guiliani, Romney, McCain, and Thompson just aren't very exciting prospects.

I like Thompson because I think he's formed some solid policies and plans regarding Social Security, Immigration, Taxes, etc. He's just done a .... poor job of getting his message out.
The CNN/YouTube Repub debate was a complete and absolute joke btw. Democrat plants left and right, no questions of substance that weren't meant to be wedge issues, and then CNN had the temerity to knock the candidates for not addressing health care...yet, it was CNN that didn't ask a single health care question to the candidates.
The presidential primary debates have been a farce this time around.
There is no way I could vote for Romney and Guiliani if they get the nod. I'll either vote Constitution Party for the third election in a row or just quit voting since it won't matter. They are so center/left its disgusting.
I was bothered when he raised his hand to say he didn't believe in evolution and he is soft on illegal immigration.
While I am not sure about his stance on illegal immigration, I am not discouraged by the thought that he is a religious man...
Indeed. How can someone "not believe" in a theory?
Whom exactly among the candidates is NOT "soft" on illegal immigration? I mean, given that there are tens of millions of people here illegally already?
We are ALL "soft" on illegal immigration.
Of all the Republican candidates, I like Mike the most. :biggrin2:
