I still think we got the right guy (Coach DeBoer)

Isn't Jeremy Pruitt and assistant coach on a mediocre high school football team in rural Alabama (seriously...not making a joke)? It's hard for me to believe he's still a viable option for a major college program. Seems like he was the right guy for a season, but unlikely he has a future in major college football.
yep, he is a PE teacher in DeKalb County. I googled it. He coaches the junior high basketball team.

For Alabama fans, getting used to being just another contender is going the be the toughest part. Alabama was in title contention as THE force to be overcome every year for 17 straight years. 17 years in which Alabama was still in title contention until the very last games of the season were played. 9 championship game appearances.

That dominance will likely never be seen again.

Now Alabama is just another team, fighting and clawing for players, coaches and wins.
I think this is true. However, our opponents still tear down the goal posts and sell T-shirts proclaiming the victory. To our opponents, we're not just another team. Not yet.

That is true and makes things harder in that your opponents spend more time preparing for your games. But it also means that you get more TV exposure and better players

Just watched the post game press conference. If you didn't know the outcome of the game, you'd have assumed Alabama didn't just almost throw a game away. It was like he was talking about a different team and game than the one that actually played/happened.

I wouldn't expect him to dog the team and the prep and execution. But after the past two weeks, I'd expect a sense of urgency and concern.

Hoping Alabama hasn't hired its version of Bryan Harsin - someone who just doesn't get what's happening around him.

I thought this morning about just how great a coach CNS was. His talent acquisition was absolutely off the charts. No other coach ever put the number of players in the NFL who have had multi-year careers.

We could go on and on with coaching superlatives. He was the prototype coach. If it were possible to design a college coach he would be the model.

One of the best organizers ever, who would have been successful in any challenge he chose to undertake.

They have completely redesigned the game to make him less successful and ultimately force him to retire.

It is difficult to see anyone duplicate his achievements.

There are others on here who could speak more ably on his teams and talent but one thing for sure it will be a tremendous challenge for anyone who follows him.

It was good, but no where near Pruitt's level of defense. Not even in the same ballpark.
2023 rush D: 33
2023 pass D: 24

Shhh…..you’ll get labeled “cult of Pruitt” if you don’t bash him. I guarantee if he hadn’t left we would possibly have one of two more National Championships.

The jury is still out on Deboer. That's the best way to look at it. Player behavior is very troubling. Of course, to be fair, Jermaine Burton acted a fool in every single game and even Saban let it slide. I got very tired of that weird head wag he would do while making crazy faces at opposing players just because he caught a pass. And don't get me started on Dallas Turner's antics. I became very critical of Saban for being so passive about something he would have punished just a few years earlier. But, there again, that's NIL for ya. Punish a player on Monday and he will transfer out on Tuesday

I don’t disagree, but you could say the same thing about 2021-2023, particularly with the undisciplined part. Our coordinators cost us championships in 2021 and 2022.
Completely agree. Very rarely (or at least it seemed that way) did Bama's defense get manhandled the way it has since Golding was hired. There were outliers, but the defense was usually technically sound & would lay the wood. It's been downright embarrassing watching the tackling, or lack there of, recently.

I don’t have any doubts about his Offense and he clearly got the light switch to flip for Jalen at QB.

But something is not right with our defense and the attitude of our players.

But I also think it’s too early to blame him completely.

I’m reserving any kind of judgment until after we see a few more games.
Anytime you have a player that was recruited for one type of defense running something different you get similar results.
