All I can say is if you post something on this board, have enough guts to stand by it. Don’t run off and delete it. If you say “Tennessee is going to run us out of the stadium” stand by it and we’ll see what happens. If you spend 7 months after our loss to Michigan in the playoffs dogging Milroe, don’t hide. Own up to it. Milroe is anything but a polished QB but many on here said he’d never improve. That kid, evidently, worked his rear end off to improve. We lost 40 players at the end of last year when CNS retired, players graduated, hit the portal, or were drafted. CKD had enough guts to take this job. Let’s give him time to see what happens. Coach Stallings started off 0-3. I sat through all 3 of those losses. He turned out to be a pretty freaking good coach Maybe CKD will be too. All I know is he wants to be here and I’ll support him. RTR.

I guess we all have to keep in mind that CKD is not Nick Saban and he’s not trying to be and that may be where it draws the ire of the fanbase. His demeanor is different, he’s not scowling at the media during the week, he’s calm, gives off vibes of a former coach at times when he talks but it’s just YEAR 1!

Even I have to come off the ledge a bit and breathe. New system, new culture, new coaches and maybe we expect everything to flow like business as usual the last 17 years. While I don’t expect and demand a NC this year, we gotta let the man get in place, get players that fit what they are trying to do on both sides of the ball and then we’ll see what the end state will be. He has a shorter leash, but it is what it is, give it a year

It took Coach Saban roughly a full season and some bowl practices for the light to turn on. We’ll take some lumps this year but hopefully the light turns on soon.

We gotta stop saying that. Pruitt isn't coming back ever. The game has changed so much, I dont think Pruitt would have sucess with defense.
The best coaching staff's are like a tetris game. You need coaches that are very demanding, coaches who love on the players, and everything in between. If you have an entire staff of pat ya on the back guys your team will be soft and undisciplined. If you have an entire staff of old school guys you may have 60 guys in the portal the next year. Pruitt has forgot more football then 99% of this forum collectively knows. He would still be a huge asset to the staff, its just a matter of if they could make it work with his history. I like the coaches we currently have but I do feel as if we need a guy or two, at least one on each side of the ball, who will break a size 12 nike off in someone when it is needed. Let the nice coaches love on them afterwards but let the Alpha do what the Alpha does...

But here is the thing… there has been alot of chatter coming out of the complex that we have finally found a few guys that remind people of Pruitt on this current staff… they said that of Coach Mo and Wommack.

The problems are 1) Pruitt isn’t coming back and 2) we are in a transitional period with a depleted defense. I don’t care how many people want to say “well last year” and “ Saban left a lot of talent here”. Unless we were hiring Kirby Smart , Schumann, or Dan Lanning our defense was going to have major problems. Saban the last 5 years has missed big time on defensive linemen compared to aTm and Georgia, and we are incredibly young in the secondary in terms of depth. That added with going to an entirely foreign concept is a recipe for headaches.

I still maintain that we more that we probably have a far better coaching staff as a whole than what we have had since 2017. But they themselves are new to the SEC and they haven’t had the opportunity to build a culture yet. Everyone thinks seamless transitions should be the norm but they rarely happen. Yeah, we've been spoiled beyond belief for the last 16 years or so. However, no one wants to go back to eating hot dogs after getting used to ribeyes. But we're in a massive coaching transition and if given time we probably will be eating ribeye's again.

Not to mention that the human mind tends to remember things as it wants to.

For example, Chip Patterson pointed out that while many Bama fans were saying things like "Saban would never come off a loss and not destroy the next team", CNS was 8-14 ATS following a loss - more likely to not cover than to cover. But many / most don't remember it that way...

Yeah, we've been spoiled beyond belief for the last 16 years or so. However, no one wants to go back to eating hot dogs after getting used to ribeyes. But we're in a massive coaching transition and if given time we probably will be eating ribeye's again.
Before the season i thought 9-3 or 10-2 was realistic. If we could beat 2 of the 4 of LSU, Tennessee, Georgia, and Auburn i would be happy.

Granted coming out of the Georgia game I was a little drunk on how good we looked the first half and thought that was the true us. But ultimately I think we are still on track.

I'm not advocating for anyone to be fired. All I'm saying is the learning curve for this staff would undoubtedly be less if a veteran SEC experienced coach was on it.

I don't think it would make that big of a difference. Football is football, and the things we're seeing are the result of youth and inexperience on the backend of our defense, learning a new scheme and us continuing to struggle to find pass rushers among our four and five-star DL'men, which even Saban couldn't even get right in the last five years of his tenure. I have no idea why we have missed on so many pass rushers. But we have...

Football is football, and the things we're seeing are the result of youth and inexperience on the backend of our defense, learning a new scheme and us continuing to struggle to find pass rushers among our four and five-star DL'men, which even Saban couldn't even get right in the last five years of his tenure. I'm not saying it would take us from a 9 win team to an undefeated season and NC but I can almost say with certainty that having knowledge of your opponent, understanding their player personnel and personnel groupings, understanding how certain coaches adjust to certain things, etc etc etc does matter. I have seen the thick 3 ring binders that Saban had his staff do for each opponent when scouting. He collected an unbelievable amount of information that they compiled over the years that gave them an idea of who they were playing, what they would do, and how to attack/combat them. Sure you can watch film and talk to others, but being on that field and competing against certain teams and coaches definitely gives you an advantage.

If you believe it's been a lack of strategy and scheme, then I guess you're right. But I believe it's been more of a lack of experience, compounded by youth and the normal bumps that come along with learning a new scheme. Then what's made it worse is we still don't have a dog on the DL and it's killing us.

Look at what just ONE pass rusher did to our offense this past Saturday. #5 is a legit dog off the edge and just his presence alone wrecked a many of our plays. Players matter.

Then what's made it worse is we still don't have a dog on the DL and it's killing us.

I think it is a combination of many things, but experience playing our opponents is definitely not a negative.

Not mention that regardless of DeBoer's success elsewhere, he's never faced the kind of schedule week in and week out that he's facing this season.

We brag about the SEC being so tough...because it is.

There are literally no weeks off in this conference...a lesson that was hard-earned the last couple of weeks.

There are literally no weeks off in this conference...a lesson that was hard-earned the last couple of weeks.
Sark benefitted greatly by working here before getting the Texas job. He KNEW after he left the conference what it took to have a championship-level program. He went to Texas, got a three-year running start to build it that way, and is skating into their first year in the SEC as the most loaded team in the conference.
