Sweet Home Alabama

"Sweet Home Alabama" has become a favorite among University of Alabama students and alumni. Shaun Alexander, the Seattle Seahawks MVP running back and University of Alabama alumnus, has the song played after each home game touchdown.
I didn't know Shaun had that done in Seattle.

Just proves one doesn't have to be (literally) from Alabama to recognize a good state when one sees it! :BigA:

Whenever I hear the guitar startup I shout "Turn it Up!" no matter where I'm at.

Later Neil Young and Ronnie had a heart to heart and became somewhat buddies. Neil even sent them some songs he had wrote.

People ask me what part of Alabama am I'm from and I say "Muscle Shoals where its mentioned in the song".

During my single days, I sang "Sweet Home Alabama" at this singles mixer. There was this live band there and it if they knew the song, well they did. I didn't do that bad.

I have heard it numerous times on the radio, and more than a few times in clubs here in Abu Dhabi. Quite a few times I have met people that ask me when I am from in the states when I tell them "Alabama" I get a "Sweet Home Alabama" in reply.................... Roll Tide Y'all

On the same note as Bat123...

Having been in the service and stationed in Europe, most Europeans wanted to know where I was from (this usually stemmed from my thick Southern accent). I would say Georgia and they would look at me funny and want to know where that was. I would tell them that its between the Atlantic ocean and the State of Alabama. More times than not the enlightened Euros would break into Sweet Home Alabama.

Now that I live here in Denver I regularly say to myself " I miss Alabama once again, and I think it's a sin!" :)

i wish i was a program director for a radio station that could be heard around the world, and Southern Rock would be played 24-7. i already have all the albums i need. it would only be interrupted by Crimson Tide sports. RTR!!

Few, if any, states have two hit songs with the state so mentioned as Alabama does. "Sweet Home Alabama" and Alabama band's "My Home's in Alabama." Both huge hits. Both live on today.
