Introduce ourselves.

I'm Big Chuck, reared in/around Opp, the hometown of Mike Dubose. I graduated from Kinston High School, in l959, home of Ronnie Cottrell's first coaching job.
I became a Bama fan by growing up in a Bama family and followed the tradition.
I did not attend UA. I actually went to Auburn for awhile and and eventually graduated from Troy (State) in those days.
I live on the coast of Florida in a small community called Holley. Don't look for it on a map as you can't find it with Google Earth. You need a good flash light and a machete to find it in the daylight.
A little item of interest, there is a restaurant near where I live at the Yellow River Delta, aptly named Gators, that Coach Bryant used to frequent. The owner is a big fan and has numerous pictures of Coach Bryant dining at the place back in the sixties. For Coach to have found that place he must have known every inch of the South.

I'm 35 and originally from West Virginia. My introduction to football was the Steel Curtain when I was seven. I lived in Orlando for a couple of years when I was a kid and remember specifically playing football in the yard with one of the older kids in the neighborhood who was sporting a Bama jersey. I remember asking him "When did Alabama get a team?" It was my introduction to college football. I didn't even know it existed at the time. Within the next year my family moved to Birmingham on my 9th birthday actually and I chose my side the following year. Funny that I lived in Orlando all that time and never really heard about FSU or UF.

Who's your uncle?, if I may ask.

:biga2:

Richard Talmadge Willingham. Played OG. He tore a knee up his sophomore year and never played again. His claim to fame was going up against Billy Neighbors in practice as a freshman. Their is a picture of my uncle standing next to Coach Bryant in the 1962 yearbook. Kind of funny that a 5'10 205 pound player was a lineman 45 years ago.

I'm Scott. Born, raised and still reside in Hazel Green, AL (just north of Huntsville) I'm 41 and been a Bama fan all my life. My entire family is Bama fans so I didn't have a chance to make the wrong decision. Graduated from the University of Alabama @ Home (Huntsville) in 1990, currently work for NASA. Married with 2 children.

WELCOME MARK,
mY NAME IS KENDALL. I AM FROM ALABASTER, AL AND HAVE BEEN A BAMA FANATIC ALL MY LIFE. ENJOY THE BAMANATION AND THE SABANATION.

Oh man yeah, I remember you now! You actually came and spoke to the Rotary club here in Tallassee as well. I'll tell him, he'll be glad to know you're a UA fan! Brad actually lived in Opelika for several years (graduated from Opelika) and he knows how tough it is in Lee County being an Alabama fan.

Hello Mark, Wellcome to the board.

One of the first things you are about to find out about is having your Thread moved. You see this is the football forum. Your thread belongs on the non-sports board. We only have room for football on this board.

You will also find out about teaser titles and teaser threads. On this forum you are required to state exactly what your thead is about. Usually that will take more than two words.

Hope you have a great time on this board.

James

Introduce ourselves pretty much covers what the thread is about! :p

With that said,
Welcome aboard J. Will. I go by Irish (given name: Scott) and grew up near Center Point Alabama many years ago. Most of my family live in Shelby County. I now live in Key West. I retired from the Navy at the Ripe ole age of 41 in 2000. I now work for my Uncle Sam. I love Alabama Football and everything about it. RTR :BigA:

My name is Jeff. Both of my parents were born and raised in Northwest Alabama, but as a military brat, the world has been my hometown. I got my sheepskin from the Capstone in 1980. Getting that degree is one of the smartest things I've ever done..."they" can take away your money, cars, houses and belongings, but no one can ever take away your education!

I've been lurking here since CMS was fired, and finally got around to signing up so I can throw in my two cents every now and then. I have enjoyed following the events of the past few months on this board. The moderators and members show a lot of class...like the University! :)

Mike here, from Hattiesburg, MS. (or, "exile" as I like to call it, although we do like it here & have chosen to stay on a couple of different occasions). Born in Montgomery; raised from age 1 on in Ft. Walton Beach, FL, home of the prettiest beaches in the world. 3 degrees from UA (took me a while to get all edu-ma-cated). Taught 2 years @ Indiana State (now there, verily, was some living in exile...:) ) before moving to Hattiesburg & taking a job @ USM. Now in "will teach for food" mode, teaching part-time @ USM & serving full-time as something called "Director of College Planning & Placement" at a private high school.

Mom graduated from the Capstone in 54, & got her Master's in 83. I got a B.S. in 83, an M.A. in 88, & a Ph.D. in 90. mrs. exiled got a B.S. in 84. Dad never went to college, but raised me up right to be a Bama fan. (1st game: Sugar Bowl v. Notre Dame in the rain when I was 14; Coach Bryant said it was the best game he was ever part of. But the durn irish won...)

exiled, jr. would be generation #3, except that UA doesn't have a pharmacy school. Thus, he's the biggest Bama fan in the early-entry pharmacy program at Ole Miss. He & I did make 2 games in Tuscaloosa this past season...

This is a great board. Wonderful way to avoid work (like I'm doing right now...)

Hey everyone--
My name's Mark and I live way up here in Buffalo,NY.Please sve the wisecracks,I believe I've heard them all.Anyway,I've been a Tide fan since the 1973 Sugar Bowl when ND made that impossibly long 3rd down conversion and ABC panned to THE BEAR--he was utterly and completely dejected. But, even as a 7 year old, I could sense that his disappointment was not for himself--it was for his beloved school, his players and the fans. I became a fan that instant. I guess it's kind of odd that my devotion to this program was born out of defeat, but that's the way it happened.
Anyway, I used to post on this board a while ago but was sidetracked by a rather serious illness. I'm alright now and it sure is good to be back. Haven't made it down to T-Town in 3 years but have every intention of doing so in '07.I look forward to posting as often as I consider my opinions relevant.

RTR
and,oh yeah--
Go Sabres!!

I look forward to posting as often as I consider my opinions relevant.
Whew...what a relief! For a minute there I thought you had raised the posting bar to having to have relevant opinions. In that case, I'd have to delete pretty much all of mine & never post again. But as I re-read, I noted the key phrase "as often as I consider my opinions relevant." I consider all of my opinions relevant. Thus, I will still be posting here...:p ;) :biggrin2:
