The best way to use AI for most companies right now is for augmentation of what your people are doing to stream line processes and complete tasks faster. Complete replacement is really hard right now. It may become more possible as time goes if costs for coding and other heavy work drops because computing power simply increases enough to bring costs down significantly. I use perplexity computer from time to time and you can eat up your credits/tokens really quick.
Our district implemented a time keeping system that cost exponentially more money per year than the "time" they said employees were "stealing" from them. WE SHOWED THEM!!! LOL!
We literally pay in licensing and user fees over $300,000/year and anything we do "catch" doesn't put physical money back into our checking account. So, we're paying $300,000+ in literal money to "save" nothing more than what amounts to keeping someone's pay per hour at what it should be, by ensuring they don't come in 15 minutes late and leave 15 minutes early. But they still get paid the same regardless. Again, WE SHOWED THEM!!!

I said this about AI well over a year ago. Using it to diagnose and fire people with medical conditions so they lose their insurance AND their income is somehow even more heartless and evil than I’d predicted.

I'm generally a rule-follower so while I'm not going to go out and start sawz-alling flock cameras, I do smile when I see it...
We have traffic cameras which track flow, etc. In addition, roadside cameras record vehicles and tag numbers, but neither perform law enforcement, or record faces, although that was originally planned. The outcry forced a backdown by the city. The other day, they interviewed a police chief of a tiny little town over in NE AL, where he justified tickets for violations. Then, his expression turned sort of mean and he went on to say they were just a little town and they liked to know who was coming into it...
