Is there a scenario where we still back into the playoffs?

My beliefs are rooted in the fact that Byrne will lobby for the conference. Computers have the SEC #1by far. And Byrne has the power to disrupt their lives. And I don’t think they will want the B1G to have more teams.

Yall also need to remember that if WE get #12 then we are left out. We need the #11 ranking to get in. Arizona St will be likely #15 and get the 12 seed.

I could honestly see the committee taking the path of least resistance and put Miami 11, Bama 12, and USCe 13 to not have to decide between three 3 loss SEC teams.

the problem is that the committee can do whatever they want and they can say “South Carolina is one of the best teams in the country the past 5 weeks and Alabama isn’t”.

We probably are the #11 spot on Tuesday but playing like we did tonight after playing terrible last week makes it anything but a certainty
IMO, Alabama was fairly impressive in overcoming 4 TOs and winning in a slightly dominant fashion. From the middle of the 3rd qtr on, AU was never closer than 2 TDs. Really never threatened though they got multiple breaks.

This has been an erratic year for almost all teams who played many teams with a pulse, especially the SEC who had 13 or 14 teams who could beat some teams within the top half of every other conference.

Ala, Tex, UGA, UT, A&M, LSU, Mo, Vandy, Ark, OM, UF, Aub, USCe

Frankly, only MSU was a total pushover. So, you had to be ready every week, which no one was.

We would have been better off losing to Georgia and beating OU.
I think I understand what you’re saying but disagree because erratic performances are not uncommon by almost all teams this year, thus not penalized as much, and the benefit of a big win over a top 7 or 8 team is a big plus, IMO.

Yeah, I think the thought here is that we jump Clemson this week, but the question is whether we jump Miami. If we don’t, then we have no hope, but if we do then we need SMU to beat Clemson.

Yeah I’m not saying that conclusion is the correct one.

I think we get penalized more for the loss to a mediocre OU than the bonus of beating a top 10 UGA.

I am starting to think we are in the last slot. I think they drop Miami below Bama. And I’m not sure who behind us can go ahead other than Clemson.
Clemson could never go ahead of Ala except as the auto qualifier and then they would displace SMU. Clemson beat no one this year, not one ranked team and lost both of their games to SEC teams, one a blowout vs UGA at a neutral site.

And Auburn is still a 5-7 team playing at BDS. Right now you are basically putting fan glasses on and expecting a committee of non Alabama people to say “ Alabama beating a 5-7 Auburn at home is impressive”. IDK if they are going to ignore two mediocre to bad performances against teams seeking bowl eligibility in back to back weeks where we turned the ball over 7 times.

If we get in it’s basically because they want to punish Miami for losing twice in a cake schedule. We have had a whopping one great game since the Georgia game. If we are left out then we only have ourselves to blame, and we won’t have any room to complain about getting left out.
