Is there a scenario where we still back into the playoffs?

Not to beat a dead horse, but.....it was meant to be the best 12...and the way it's set up, it definitely is not..reminds me of the FSU or TCU rankings or even OU vs. LSU...just uncompetitive games...luckily this is a season of good not great teams so most games wont be blow outs
You will never have only the best teams when you have automatic qualifiers.

This....rankings at the beginning of the year have a massive impact....PSU should not have been ranked that high...and because they play a weak schedule there is no way to drop them. They are average to say the least
Since I live around a lot of PSU fans whenever the weak schedule is brought up they always come back with the argument that PSU always beats the teams they are expected to beat, unlike a lot of teams who usually stub their toe against a weak team somewhere. I'm not saying that makes then deserving but that's their argument.

Justification vs argument :)....My room mate at college was a PSU grad - love him but thinking they are a top team is delusional. Franklin is a lucky man...they are the A&M of the B10 with ranking bias

I think that OSU drops to 8th or 9th, but stays ahead of Indiana.
If they are going to continue to honor head to heads, then Bama may have an outside shot if UGA lost to Texas. Then the committee may have a dilemma. Bama won head to head, but UGA made it to the SEC title game. So which do you choose? The committee has consistently been honoring head to heads when there's not a 3 way tie, so are we so certain that they wouldn't have Bama ahead of UGA if they lost to Texas? That could get interesting.

They won't penalize Georgia enough to drop them out for losing that game.

But we still won head to head. You typically don't wanna drop someone for losing in the championship game, but if they're being compared to the team they lost to, I think they might make an exception. This committee has already shown they heavily value head to head.

I get it, but they won't do it. They just won't. I would love to be wrong, and I could be, but I doubt it.

Oregon....Ohio State....Penn State....Indiana

Texas....Georgia.....Tennessee

Leaves 5 spots.

Big 12 champ
Boise State if they win
ACC champ
Notre Dame

That's 11.

Remaining spot comes down to Miami, Bama, Ole Miss, South Carolina?

This wouldn't be a question if the refs hadn't screwed SC vs LSU.....SC would be in without question with 2 losses.

Did Junior Rees just call in to the Texas 4&8 sideline from Cleveland with the 4th down play that puts ‘Bama into the playoff field?

Refs also helped Miami twice.

I think the committee has already said Championship games wont affect rankings....however...we beat UGA last year and they were penalized!
So if I'm a big time sponsor of these games (like Dr Pepper once was for the SEC).....why in the hell would I waste money sponsoring a meaningless game?
