Because of the Bye, they are not meaningless. That is why they included the Bye.So if I'm a big time sponsor of these games (like Dr Pepper once was for the SEC).....why in the hell would I waste money sponsoring a meaningless game?

Good question...or a meaningless bowl game....maybe to watch students shoot 5 yd passes for $100k?So if I'm a big time sponsor of these games (like Dr Pepper once was for the SEC).....why in the hell would I waste money sponsoring a meaningless game?
They said a conference championship game loser wouldn't be "unduly punished" - which gives them quite a bit of wiggle room.I think the committee has already said Championship games wont affect rankings....however...we beat UGA last year and they were penalized!
Meaningless, okay, that's a strong word.Because of the Bye, they are not meaningless. That is why they included the Bye.
The old, "That can mean whatever we want it to mean at whatever time we want it to mean it to justify what that means!"They said a conference championship game loser wouldn't be "unduly punished" - which gives them quite a bit of wiggle room.
And they should be even with their embarrassing loss today. Their only other loss is a one point loss on the road to the #1 ranked team. Beat two good teams.Ohio State is in for sure.
That would also explain why Tessitore kept saying Georgia would clinch a playoff spot with a win - he's actually in the know with the ones who know.I get it, but they won't do it. They just won't. I would love to be wrong, and I could be, but I doubt it.
What happens when they go to 16 teams thus eliminating byes?Because of the Bye, they are not meaningless. That is why they included the Bye.
becomes the FBS....this year is just a flawed process...unless you take the top 16....treat it like the CBB march madness...if you are a conference winner you are in....it just doesnt give you a #1 seed automatically! What happens when they go to 16 teams thus eliminating byes?
My Alabama game watching dropped from virtually every game this year to just five.becomes the FBS....this year is just a flawed process...unless you take the top 16....treat it like the CBB march madness...if you are a conference winner you are in....it just doesnt give you a #1 seed automatically!
The NIL/portal has done much more damage to my viewership than the CFP. But I still view the CFP as a net negative for the game.My Alabama game watching dropped from virtually every game this year to just five.
It will drop even further if that’s what they do. To say nothing of the fact that Stanford hiring Andrew Luck as a GM is really going to be a major shift in Sports.
I think Ohio St will be the top seeded at large team over ND unless Oregon is upset by Penn St.And they should be even with their embarrassing loss today. Their only other loss is a one point loss on the road to the #1 ranked team. Beat two good teams.
That, too, but all this "oh, fans are interested."The NIL/portal has done much more damage to my viewership than the CFP. But I still view the CFP as a net negative for the game.
Honestly… pulling for anyone at this point is irrelevant. If Alabama is not #11th on Tuesday then there is nothing that could change their fate. Tuesday might as well be the final rankings. All the championship weekend decides is seeding and one last chance for teams like Clemson and whoever is in the Big XII.Now pull for Georgia in the SECCG as it will further improve Alabama's resume in the final ranking.
Also pull for SMU, though I doubt that game will matter. The loser should be out no matter what. But pull for SMU just in case.
Obviously, I could be completely wrong, but I think SMU is in regardless of next weekend. Now pull for Georgia in the SECCG as it will further improve Alabama's resume in the final ranking.

You are probably right, but you never know.Honestly… pulling for anyone at this point is irrelevant. If Alabama is not #11th on Tuesday then there is nothing that could change their fate. Tuesday might as well be the final rankings. All the championship weekend decides is seeding and one last chance for teams like Clemson and whoever is in the Big XII.
I doubt it, but we will find out.Obviously, I could be completely wrong, but I think SMU is in regardless of next weekend.
unless they are willing to punish Georgia, or if they are seriously considering keeping in a two loss SMU then I just don’t see how any of it benefits us. So if you 100% want to be on the safe side then pull for the ponies and the horns. But I don’t see it matteringYou are probably right, but you never know.
