Is there a scenario where we still back into the playoffs?

That is only part of it. Alabama fans seem to dread even the possibility of a loss where most fan bases are excited about the possibility of a win. Get back there again and the magic will return.
I don’t dread losses. I just don’t like rewarding bad teams, and teams that don’t deserve to sniff a national championship.

Yea, I don't know about that. This is my team, good, bad or ugly. And I can also honestly say that we would be the most dangerous team in the field if we were to make the playoff, though, I am certain we will not.

Sounds elitist to me, especially in a year like this. Tell me where the great teams are in college football this year. There aren't any.
How about you worry about Michigan instead of telling Alabama fans how they should feel. I’ve stomached 3 win seasons and several probation based seasons and I can tell you unequivocally this is the one Alabama team I have lost the most interest in. If that makes me a bad fan in your eyes then so be it. I still cheer for them when they are on, I still spend way too much a year on them, but I’m going to call it like I see it and how I see it is that this isn’t a team deserving of a playoff spot. But again… it’s the committee mixed with other teams losing that decides who is deserving.

I am talking to myself more than anyone else.

Not in my opinion. It is proof that adding more teams did exactly what it was hoped to do. This weekend has far more meaningful games than ever before in the history of the game.

The fear of being embarrassed in the CFP comes from a place that has fans more worried about losing that excited about winning.

IMO, Alabama fans need to figure out how to enjoy the game again.
True, expanded interest expands eyeballs across more games now and through the playoffs. As long as the big and sec get +/- 4 teams in each, it will probably both be profitable and controversial enough to extend if they want.

Another path that could wall us or someone else out - some were worried an "undeserving" conf champ could mess things up, that possibility seems to now be with sec if the aggies win out.

Do remaining conference champs have to be at large, such that Big 12 might be out? That would help us get in

A loss today won’t hurt OSU at all. That’s why this new system sucks.

Makes their champ game more interesting, win today they are in, lose today might not be in after that game if the ducks win. Like ga last night, didn't matter if they win next week.
We don't know how the conference losers are going to be treated, my feeling is they will be rated more like play in games, especially if seasonal losses are similar.

Had Georgia Tech not wet the bed, Alabama's odds would have improved dramatically.
Yeah if Georgia lost they would have needed to win SEC championship. Now they should be in that leaves 3 spots for 6 teams assuming nothing crazy like Indiana or Notre Dame losing. Miami, SMU, Clemson, Tennnesee, South Carolina, and Alabama. Right now Miami, SMU and Tennessee are in the drivers seat. They all win today they are in.

Need to pull for USC over Notre Dame

I think Notre Dame is safe. They have a few quality wins and a 2 loss Notre Dame goes over a 3 loss team. Miami and SMU are the 2 teams that if they lose 2 and don’t play for ACC championship are most vulnerable because lack of quality wins.

Right, but looking for chaos.
