Ha, I think you are safe. After the Vandy game, I said this team would not win a national championship and if I was wrong, I would have my name changed to IwaswrongRTR. I will still do this because I am a man of my word.

Wouldn't Clemson or the Big12 winner jump into the Top 4 by winning their Conf?Clemson is 17th now, and the committee doesn't like their resume or record. With a win they would make the CFP as an automatic qualifier, but stay behind Alabama. SMU would drop behind them and out of the race altogether. The winner of the Big 12 would also remain behind Alabama. This places Alabama at 10.
One of them would get the first-round bye but neither would be ranked in the top 4.Wouldn't Clemson or the Big12 winner jump into the Top 4 by winning their Conf?
SMU would drop out leaving a vacant spot for a Champion
I thought the Top 4 was set aside for the Top 4 Conf ChampionsOne of them would get the first-round bye but neither would be ranked in the top 4.
They aren’t gonna watch SMU go 0-2 against the only good teams they faced and reward with a playoff spot. As much as I hate it, this whole thing is a sham just to get more “brands” in the playoffs. It benefits Bama, but it’s at the expense of the entire sport. The CFP chairman said the main reason they put Bama over Miami (even though Miami only has 2 loses) was because Bama was 3 -1 against current Top 25 while Miami was 0-1. If Clemson beats SMU then SMU would be 0-2 against current Top 25. I'm hopeful Bama is going to be in.
Ha, good oneFunniest thing is notre dame could be undefeated ranked #1 in all the polls and they still would only be 5th ranked in the playoffs. The stupid conference winner bye rule will never allow them to have a 1st round bye.
Interesting to see how they handle movement of this weekends games - related to your question and discussion about this - they don’t have to “move” the big 12 teams at all, or at least no worse than swap 15/16 ranking and one of those are still in, just lowest seed.Wouldn't Clemson or the Big12 winner jump into the Top 4 by winning their Conf?

Oh, yeah? Well TCU went on to show Georgia, didn't they? The CFP created this in 2022 by not dropping TCU from #3 after losing the conference championship game.
Indiana played only OSU, and got smoked. The B1G and SEC will get four teams each. I'd take Ole Miss, USCe, or Missouri over Indiana but the numbers have been decided. Did Indiana play a single top 10 team? Did they play a single decent non-conference opponent? They have been placed 'safely' inside the top 12 for a reason...and it's not merit.
Bruh…Indians played only OSU, and got smoked.
Fixed?Indians played only OSU, and gotsmokedscalped.
This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. An SMU win guarantees Bama is in. WTH is Paul talking about? In another episode of dumb reporting from SC this morning...
Heather D - If Clemson wins then Alabama is out, no mention of SMU potentially dropping out.
Paul F - Bama fans need to pull for Clemson so that they knock SMU out.

Now I'm hoping - more than I ever have - that we Let All Naysayers Know ! Let's go Bama ! Win one for the man! After the Vandy game, I said this team would not win a national championship and if I was wrong, I would have my name changed to IwaswrongRTR. I will still do this because I am a man of my word.
Paul F admitted yesterday that this whole thing is an ESPN production. All of it. The CFP ranking show, the seedings, the arguments, the teams selected ... everything ... because it increases eyeballs on the CFP ... which are all ... ESPN. Self-dealing anyone? In another episode of dumb reporting from SC this morning...

As I’ve asked before, anybody else miss “ the bad old days” of the BCS and the computers picking the top 4? This whole committee process has borne out “ Be careful what you ask for “ IMHO.They aren’t gonna watch SMU go 0-2 against the only good teams they faced and reward with a playoff spot. As much as I hate it, this whole thing is a sham just to get more “brands” in the playoffs. It benefits Bama, but it’s at the expense of the entire sport.
Wait... Cinderella was actually beautiful.Gotta invite Cinderella to the dance now. The DEI culture has crept in.
